First i want to say thank you. I appreciate all of you who subscribe and watch. I am to blame for what happened on YouTube it was my fault, I’m uploading illegal content. Honestly I’m surprised my account hasn’t been removed from YouTube. I easily have over 100 copyrighted videos on my channel. It has to be a record. i got off easy

I wasn’t making that much money from my other YouTube channels. I don’t want to come off like I’m losing thousands a month from this. I have 6 or 7 YouTube accounts all of which are failures, but all them combined equal 1 mediocre account. On average I make a 100, if I’m lucky 200 a month from all accounts combined.

I’m a full time college student so a couple hundred bucks goes a long way. I just upgraded to Vimeo plus for a whole year so i can upload there until i get things worked out on YouTube. It just stinks for me because i may never be able gain monetization back.

Btw i wasn’t referring to VideOandA as my only source of income.

By next week i’ll have a new video up on Vimeo, also i have a couple of videos that were blocked recently going up on Vimeo. Sorry for being so dramatic i apologize.

Good luck, and thanks for everything! Sorry for all the people assuming the worst about your ethics, they could have at least checked out your further explanation before saying you were doing this for the wrong reasons, etc.

At least I can give you some imaginary internet points. Thanks for the videos man.

You're a goddamn saint. We love you.

Say it ain't so. Have you contacted Sam or Opie and see if they can hook you up with goodies or cash for your services;?

I am a huge fan, thanks for everything.

I've been involved in development of a new video sharing website called BitVid ever since YouTube's G+ integration fiasco (I'm so fucking sick of Google).

BitVid is attempting to be an alternative to YouTube, plus it will have a lot of features that YT doesn't have. We're aggressively going to try to get people to switch from YT to BitVid when it goes online.

Not only will we be doing the ad-based monetization that YT does but there will also be a "tip jar" so that viewers can donate directly to uploaders (plus a way to sell swag, which I doubt you're interested in). There will be no sign-up fees like with Vimeo Plus, either.

I can't guarantee that BitVid will be a success yet, but you should keep it in mind for your non-copyright-infringing videos if you want to maximize your monetization and avoid paying signup fees.

Money or no money, I appreciate the work you and other fans do for this show. You are a very good man for uploading these videos even if you draw the ire of SiriusXM.

Vids were always a good show, thanks for the effort

I still love you.

Hope you get the drama sorted out and everything works out for ya. You're one of my favourite subscribes.

what should REALLY happen is sxm hires a guy like that to put togther visual elements for the show.those vids are great it adds a cool element to the show

They should hire VideoAndA himself. Not like they'd need to train, relocate, or creatively motivate him. His content is consistently solid and the editing adds to the original material.

As a huge fan of his channel, I'm really bummed that he might be done.

I already pay for Sirius XM for two radio shows. Why the fuck isnt this happening already.

Thats the problem with this world. Someone that we all know (and lets be honest, we're the ones that matter) is absolutely perfect for a job, yet this guy doesn't get a chance. If they ever got someone to do it, they would be aspiring to do what this guy and guys like stevenknight do all the time. On their own sweat, with far too little recognition

this.

but this is sxm we are talking about..its never ever going to happen..those retards are hopeless

Remember when Mars came back this week? He asked if they had gotten a "video element" yet. Maybe there's something in the works that'll come out soon.

sadly this is everywhere, like the recent game streaming/review fiasco, copyright is too strict and they don't see the benefits of opening it up.

Shut up you pointless meme regurgitating parrot.

Yes! My favorite is the Patrice/Independence Day one.

Fatty pig fatty

Someone better get a hold of that Jewlia video before its gone forever.

Someone download all that shit and put it up on dailymotion. That place is like the wild west. They don't give a fuck.

If VideOandA goes down the show will take a huge hit. The only reason all these bits are amazing is because of the visual element. For example, the whole 90-Day Fiance bit would've been garbage if it wasn't for VideOandA's videos

There will always be new people doing that shit. His channel is the best though.

Trying to monetize someone else's content? You're gonna have a bad time.

Sucks that it was his only source of income, but this is stuff you do on the side. He's lucky all they're doing is shutting down his account or removing monetization capabilities.

Edit: he says it's not about this account, but his other account (of supposedly original content) since they're tied together. Protip: create a second Google account for personal stuff.

Im sure SXM would have been okay with it if they got "a little taste"

It's probably not SXM doing the complaining. It's more likely all the actual video content.

A lot of these new jack show rippers are only in it for the youtube money and adlfy click through hits. It's sad, sharing shows started as a way to get shows and bits out to people who wanted to hear the show but weren't able to.

A donation to keep a site running I can see but relying on show uploading as a source of income is ridiculous. Defeats the whole purpose of syndication underground.

If you are in it for the $ then good riddance.

I believe it was his other channels that got blocked because of the ad-free O&A videos that got copyright strikes. I've had this happen with previous channels. It disabled monetization on my legit channels that were connected to my O&A/Podcast channel because of the strikes from podcast's and the last SiriusXM lawyer witch hunt.

Thank you for clarifying all that. This should be upvoted more for clarity.

Thanks for the Ron & Fez clips!

Please! You and Stevey Knight are fucking animals. I have a very small potatoes RnF channel compared to you guys.

It takes a lot of small potatoes to make the soup!

Hey Earl, we got any small potatoes back there? I'm starvin'.

Double recipes, you cocksuckahhh!

good for you for taking off monetization I got a real prolem with people making money from uploading show crap. I hope they all get shutdown. Making money from uploading clips defeats the purpose of sharing. O&A are cool with the sharing of bits and shows, it's a fact that Opie used to give bits to a young erock before he worked for O&A to share with other fans. I'm sure they wouldn't be happy knowing that people are making money off their show. I know most people don't give a shit and they just want to get their fix for free.

I've never had monetization on shit that I didn't own. I don't want to profit from shit that's not mine. My old channels were gaming related so I could make a little cash here and there which wasn't worth it. I think having a donation link is totally cool but I never set one up because who the fuck am I? Haha.

I hope they all get shutdown

Just another example of why you're the worst fucking moderator here, you and Lady Trucker are both confirmed cunts.

You obviously didn't read or comprehend my whole post you fucking idiot. Yes I want every uploader who makes money off this shit to be shutdown. There are tons of people out there doing it for free and have been doing it for free for years now. Probably way before you started listening. If you have listened to the show over the years you would know that O&A have zero problems with fans sharing their content but they have big problems with people making money off their content.

Now get the fuck out of my subreddit.

Whole story doesn't sit square. If he wasn't doing videoanda for the money, why stop cos youtube blocked monetization. It should make no odds. Just do a good clip now and again, doesn't need a production line.

And he had an aborted attempt to set-up a website to host the links to the videos, a website which was to be wrapped in ad-sense. When he couldn't get ads working properly he shitcanned the whole idea.

Anyone trying to get paid off other people's content needs to relax and have a word with themselves.

Yep they should be doing it for fun and to help other fans out. If it becomes to stressful or time consuming either cut back or just steep away.

Reminds me of when they talked to Steve C about posting their content on Foundry... No one was happy about that.

Sirius should be doing this. If they are not then its fair game in my eyes.

stevenkinght does it too and i just suck teeth every time i see an ad before his videos. uploading full on show clips within minutes of air-time is ballsy enough, putting ads before the videos is just asking for trouble.

i know we're all fans here but stuff like that is pretty indefensible IMO

Are you fucking kidding me? Shut your mouth, you're talking garbage: http://i.imgur.com/UQGFrlN.jpg

Any adverts you see are because copyright content was flagged so to make up for it the owner puts an ad in front of it, it's your fault for not having AdBlock installed.

Jesus fuck.

rekt

are you? settle down, it was an honest mistake. everyone appreciates what you do, just trying to make sure the already stretched rules aren't being stretched further and SXM aren't being given exactly what they need to go on another rampage

if you like o&a you really oughta have thicker skin

edit: lol makes a thread out of it. a simple "actually i don't have ads on my videos, you must ahsfguahsjfnasfas" would have done just fine, yet you've decided to make a mountain out of a molehill and make a separate thread about it [containing a screenshot and some circles?] so you can be reassured about how great you are. i don't know who you are or what you think you're doing but it's hard to believe someone who listens to as much o&a as you seem to could be such a self-important douche. you aren't the patron saint of O&A uploads you seem to fancy yourself and this community attempting to argue that you deserve monetary compensation for uploading these clips is beyond ludicrous[refer to other thread]. believe it or not the show survived before you, and it will survive after you, no matter how far this communities tongue is up your ass

I don't see an apology in what I just read.

for what? i acknowledged that it was an honest mistake, but instead of moving on like someone with better things to do, you continue to try to make a name for yourself off the backs of three people who would hate you if they met you. the only conclusion that one could draw from a person who seems to care so deeply about his reputation as an online pirate is that his life is so devoid of anything meaningful that being a niche internet celebrity is what gets your dick hard...

....were i to guess, i'd say you're stuck in the "listens to way too fucking much O&A" bubble that most of us have been in at one point....however, there's something to be said about the irony of grovelling at the feet of some mediocre nothing who uploads clips of a show dedicated to dick jokes and call-outs. attaching your name to this shit then disingenuously pretending like you don't want recognition is precisely the kind of douchery that should warrant a pillar to post decimation, but i'm hoping maybe it's just too easy for the folks around here to chop you back down to earth.

tl dr: holy shit man stop acting like you're some integral part of the show

You sound upset.

Now, for 9 months I haven't asked for a single penny from you, but some people have asked me if they can donate to compensate for my time (not the content, of course).

So, I set up a PayPal donation page—which is of course voluntary—this will be the only time I'll mention it as not to intrude, feel free to make use of it: http://bit.ly/stevendonate

I love you all, it's been fun!

can't make that up yo. no wonder he took such exception to being "accused" of putting ads on the videos. instead of explaining it away with a 2 line message, which would have sufficed, his passive aggressive narcissistic douchiness was simply too powerful, it had to shine through at some point because it always does with people like that. not only makes a personalized video "retiring" from uploading radio show clips to the internet, but lightly suggests donating for doing....what exactly? there isn't another comparable situation i can think of where this sort of thing would be even remotely acceptable

like seriously, how much of a duplicitous little twerp do you have to be to adamantly argue against and act like you're above monetizing your videos when not 3 months ago you've posted a personalized video linking to a donation page to collect donations for content you could not have less to do with?

i'm just playing guitar on a streetcorner next to an open guitar case littered with change, but don't give me any, lulz

stevenknight, as judge jury and executioner i find you GUILTY of HIGH DOUCHERY in the first degree. now that we have firmly established that it is you and not i that owes this sub and the show staff an apology, i would like for you to take us for a tour in between your ears so that we may all see how you've managed to justify this to yourself. certainly this community further deluding you into thinking you're part of the production staff or something is part of it, but there most certainly is something deeper. look past the fact that this zero is uploading content we enjoy and look at it objectively, this guys like the prototype for the kind of losers that have given this show, quite literally, hundreds of hours of content.

after you apologize to me you can call in the show to explain how sorry you are, how even lightly suggesting that you should be compensated was at best a gross miscalculation, and how this stops immediately. in the meantime, on a life level, i strongly suggest you take a 18-26 week break from this show and pick up jogging or some shit

you aren't the patron saint of O&A uploads you seem to fancy yourself

Actually, yeah, he is.

HEY FUCKER DON'T EVER FUCKING POST ON THIS REDDIT AGAIN. IF YOU DON'T SUPPORT STEVEN YOU CAN GO FUCKING DIE.

So you're the asshole who said he made money off videos.

Get fucking Adblock.

looks like a pretty air tight defense was given.

You can only ride the coattails of the successful so far.

You don't deserve monetization. None of the content is yours. You have no right to anything dummy.

He really should of made sure not to associate his real youtube account with this one. Of course the copyrights could cause a problem. Rookie mistake really. Best bet would probably be to make a new account for VideOandA under a separate google account and to file an appeal on whatever he had monetized before.

Yes. If it threatens his his other channels, then he should stop uploading new VideOandA stuff immediately and delete the whole channel (so the uploaded videos wont won't "generate" any new strikes). His account will have it's good standing back in 6 months.

Your only source of income? How much were you making?

This is my all time favorite channel...

It was a bad idea for him to be making these videos his only source of income. That puts him in a sticky situation when it comes to copyright.

Why doesn't OandA have a visual element in general for just regular interviews and in-studio segments. Stations like Hot97 and all the other rap stations have the cameras rolling all the time. Why Can't OandA have a camera rolling when comics comes in and they cut it up into a five minute video showing the best stuff. Kinda like more videos similar to the one when Patrice was laughing at Bobo's dick

It's not just Hot97 and Rap stations, it's most radio stations. It's because they are lazy and have a shitty agent who dosen't negotiate for them. They should bring this up when they negotiate their contract. Instead they just bitch and complain about it. They need to fire the agent and get someone who can do things for them.

Yeah man seriously. The entire Sean F/Erock segment should've been on video instead of just the ending when he smashed the gifts.

Like I said they just need a agent to go to bat for them and get something in their contract that allows video. Maybe not a live stream but someone shooting video then posting it after or hell even a live stream. Jason Ellis has a paid video website and he is on Sirius/XM even shitty Bubba The Love Sponge had a paid video site when he was on Sirius. So it's not that Sirius dosen't allow shows to have paid websites with videos.

Getting this going would require effort from O&A maybe stay a little late and go to meetings, find new representation etcetera. They are coasting they have been for years nothing is going to change. It's easier to just complain about things everyday then to actually do something.

Sirius XM has a YouTube channel. You might be able to contact them and see if they would claim your channel under theirs so that you could continue to make videos. Because obviously a lot of people love what you do and so it would be a wise business decision on their part to do that. Also, try reaching out to Opie, Anthony, Jim, Sam Erock etc. to see if they can pull some strings. VideOandA is actually how I discovered the show and I would hate to see it go away.

It's a shame. I'll say this again. Fans do a better job than SiriusXM at their own game. So fuck the copyrights and fuck the SiriusXM lawyers.

Do you honestly think I will pay you assholes for the show when the fans put it up for free, when good people like Steven Knight put up clips for free and don't demand any money at all?

It's not about money, because I have plenty of money. It's not about "supporting the boys", because we all know that's bullshit designed to give SiriusXM more of my cash for shitty service.

Putting Opie and Anthony videos and clips on Youtube is good for the show. But SiriusXM is too stupid to realize this. The guy from the Ukraine fucking called in and said he heard clips on Youtube and got hooked.

So fuck any lawyer trying to tear this shit down. The fans do such a great service by putting up Youtube clips. I can't thank them enough. And again, it has nothing to do with piracy or theft. It's about exposure. And these great people promote the show a lot more than SiriusXM ever could (because SiriusXM is all up in Howards' ass and apparently he's the only radio personality on SiriusXM that is worth promoting).

Goddamn, I should have monetized. My O and A videos have 280,000+ total views. That would be about 1700 bucks. Oh well.

http://www.youtube.com/user/TheEscapedGoat/videos

I don't feel too bad. Cool account, and i'm grateful for what he does, but that should not have been his only source of income. This comes from someone who is currently unemployed. You can't justify making a living off of video and audio owned by different entities.

He's a college student. His circumstances might not allow him to work. Guy does a great job and adds a great element to great radio we all love.

Need to donate again to him, adds a completely new element to already great radio.

After his embarrassing foot stomping temper tantrum on twitter when Sam didn't drop everything to tell him what episode of that queebs-only mail-order reality show the boys were watching he can fuckin whistle for a donation. Drama queen with a shitty entitled attitude.

while I fully understand current copyright laws, I feel they need to change to allow someone like this to benefit from his work. Granted he's taking two , likely copyrighted , materials and combining them, but his intent is good, he's not passing it off as his own etc.. on some level I would like to see this sort of work judged the same as quoting someone else's passage in an essay, as long as you give credit you're good...

I would like to see this sort of work judged the same as quoting someone else's passage in an essay, as long as you give credit you're good...

I like this analogy. Videoanda was taking content from two separate fields of entertainment and creating something that didn't reduce the value of either of them. They are treating him the same as the rappers who sample someone else's music, apply a shitty drum track and say "yeah, yeah" every two seconds and expect not to pay royalties.

But rappers, more accurately their record labels do pay royalties, when they don't they end up sued to shit and make no money off of their songs or have albums recalled (see: Markie, Biz for one of MANY examples). The current way around that is jacking what they want without paying but putting it out on mixtapes for free, hoping the promotion will make them future money on samples-cleared albums as well as live shows. Which is why uploads without any attempts at revenue have a much better chance at survival.

The second anyone tries to make money off of copyrighted material owned by others, as great as it may be for the listener/viewer, they're jumping into a shark tank with a blood bathing suit.
