I like the way Opie has been using Bob lately.....for humiliation value.

Bob usually only gets airtime when he is doing bits with his contemporaries Bobo, Marion , Di etc. But today when Bob called in to make a joke about Opie's Facebook photo,and hopefully make a connection with the Opster,he was left hanging.Bob then stumbled through some Opie style lies about his Facebook experiences, was hung up on and went back to bed to consider where it all went wrong.

For all the shit Op has been getting lately credit has to be given for what he is doing to the Bobster.

Bob Levy is pretty god damn unfunny for a professional comedian. Whenever a fellow comic tries to promote him they say: 1) he's a comic's comic. 2) he is amazing on stage. Or 3) he really can work a crowd. These "compliments" are basically the equivalent of saying "he sure does hustle down the basepath!" about someone who sucks at baseball.

Yeah. Bob is to comedy what I am to brain surgery: can't do it - shouldn't try it. (Only real difference is if I did brain surgery I'd definitely kill... fahkin home run!).

There are some clips on YouTube from back when Bob was a regular on Stern and Artie Lange is talking about how Bob was accusing Dave Chappelle of stealing some of his jokes for his TV show. Artie makes him look stupid and then Levy calls in and proceeds to make himself look stupid. I'm at work so I can't dig up the link but it's worth looking up if you wanna really appreciate just how bitter/delusional this guy is.

Yeah but you also hear people saying he's the funniest or quickest comic they know. I specifically remember Doug Stanhope saying that. You'll never hear anybody say that about Bob. I don't even think he'd be the funniest undertaker I knew if he chose to do that for a living.

bob levy blows. for awhile I thought the boys and the fans actually liked him. but as time goes on I can tell he's just a joke to the boys, and now I'm seeing the proper amounts of hate online. Dude is a LOSER. I would love for Opie to bash him or embarrass him but I guess it'll never happen cuz of Levy's friendship, or at least history with Norton, Florentine, and all the other comics. I always felt bad for Levy because of how Howard fucked him. He's not exactly lighting the world on fire, but letting him call up and make fun of specials is fine.

What exactly went down between him and Howard? I know and even remember him being a regular on the show, and I know Howard banned him from the show. But how did it all go down, and how did Howard "Fuck him"

Bob got plugs instead of getting paid for doing a bunch of work for the stern show. This went on for awhile. One day Stern heard all of the plugs at the end of the show and basically cancelled all of them except for the ones from the people on the show. He singled Bob out saying something like "why the fuck are we giving HIM a plug?" Bob called in to explain the situation and Howard made fun of him. Bob got upset and quit everything (including the show he was doing on the channel) and the next time he tried to go to O&A he was banned from the building.

So, basically, stern took a bunch of money away from Bob by cancelling his plugs, which he had negotiated to have in lieu of getting paid for the work he did. He also may have had him banned from the building, which would fuck bob out of additional income.

I have a feeling that sobriety is not as good for Levy's comedy as it might be for him not dying. Because either he used to be much funnier or I've grown as a person or some shit, which I'm pretty sure isn't the case.

I never really heard him on Howard but he used to be a regular caller/guest on Kidd Chris' show in Philly and he was much funnier...granted, Chris' show wasn't nearly as funny as O&A so the bar was lower, and the funniest Levy was him reacting to being trashed and not when he was trying bits. So they should just try that or something or not.

Always good when you start picking apart your own arguments. I stink. I guess Levy really does too.

Levy totally sucks on O&A, but so would Rich Vos if they just left him hanging every time and never had fun with his bombs or how dumb he is. Levy was the Rich Vos of the Howard Stern show. When he was on they called out his shitty jokes and lack of being able to pronounce certain words and it was funny. Just letting him run through his repetitive lines does not work on radio. They are failing to use him to his full potential.

Also like Vos he is actually hilarious on-stage and his type of crude humor was an obvious influence on Jimmy and Jim Florentine. Here's a short example of his type of stuff: http://youtu.be/jFFYV20H83s

Is it hack material? Absolutely, but you gotta remember he wrote it decades ago before it was hack. His sin is resting on his laurels because he's a road comic. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up taking Bobo on the road with him the way he did members of Stern's wackpack.

Levy's role is already filled on the show by Vos. An older comic that comes across as a retard on the radio but is a veteran comic who can work in any club in the country.
