Jimmy leaving the Patrice Benefit early....

Jimmy mentioned this morning he left after his set because he was "so exhausted"...making him conveniently miss Burr's & Attell's sets...WTF?

Has the jealously and anger that's been eating away at him over his friends' success made him get to this point? What excuse could he possibly have for pulling that?? Especially on a night that's so special to everyone

Burr's success is driving him bananas. Jimmy needs to grow up

I'm so sick of this shit. ME ME ME.

I think you guys are way off point with this one

I wasn't agreeing, I just saw an opportunity to get that song stuck in peoples heads.

There's nothing stopping Jimmy from taking some initiative and doing a podcast like ALL these other guys have for years.

You obviously don't know how hard it is to get podcasting equipment into the city.

Can it even be done? Like in the city...New York City.

When you spend most of your time waiting your turn to go down a ski slope ... what time do you have to podcast?

Seeing his long-time opener get her own TV show has gotta suck.

The thing is those guys are all better comedians.

True, radio Jimmy > stand-up Jimmy, IMO. Bill and Dave, along with a lot of the other guys last night, are some of the best stand-ups in the country.

Yup. Jimmy needs to accept the fact that he is so much better in a forum like a radio show than he is on stage. I don't think those guys could come close to being as good as Jimmy is on O&A but they are far better standup comics.

I agree... I've watched all of Jimmy's specials and they're good but nothing beats listening to jimmy on the radio

When Opie mentioned how Patrice's stuff is still relevant because it isn't topical crap I wondered if jimmy realized at his standup act has way too much topical shit. A friend said jimmy did a duck dynasty bit. Even though it was almost a month ago its already old and dated.

It is true, Jimmy derives his whole act from topics he hears about on the show. It is a less boiled down version of when Adam Carolla does 'this week in rage' at his weekly live podcasts where he just reiterates takes from the previous week. It is too bad because Jimmy is at his funniest when he is tired and being a silly goose but you'll never see that in his act.

He also has a radio show in the morning.

That dickbag.

On the other hand, he does spots every night late at the cellar. He also has said again and again he only sleeps a couple hours a night. Usually goes to bed at like 2. At this point, I really think he sees bill and Louie and Kevin hart as a reminder of where he wishes he was

On the other side, he has been a staple and basically a co host for the o and a show, one of the most popular radio shows ever. I know he wants that mainstream success, but he has accomplished more and def has way more money than a lot of comedians.

And he only gets like 2 hours of sleep. I think people are digging too much into this.

True, but so do Opie and Anthony. Maybe his schedule prior to the event was crazy and that caused him the exhaustion? I still think that's something you stick out through.

Today he talked about how great Bill was on Breaking Bad. I think you girls are just looking for shit that isn't there. Either way, who gives a fuck?

I might be making something out of nothing here, but today Ant was saying something like...it's amazing seeing how far comics like Bill have gone in the past couple of years....(pauses)....I mean as far as maturity goes, hes come a long way. I feel like Ant caught himself before he hurt Jimmy's feelings. I hope Im wrong

Except that's not for everybody. Maturity I mean. Jimmy is at his funniest when he is juvenile. When he gets political on poignant in his standup it's just not as good.

I agree burr has really matured and is so damn good now. Doesn't mean ant or I think jimmy stinks.

He doesn't stink ... but he'll never be a top-tier comic or actor. Burr helped sell Breaking Bad. Jim helped sell a self-heating soup can.

God, you fucking cunts and your shitty soap-opera speculative bullshit.

A couple of years ago he unfollowed every comic on twitter because "4 or 5" comics declined doing a show he was trying to put together. He didn't name the comics (aside from Colin) but chances are Bill may have been one of them. Between that, Bill filling in for Norton while he was filming lucky Louie (which openly drove him insane), and Bill's incredible success I think Lil Jimmy might be getting more sad for himself than happy for Bill. I know he has a morning radio show but so do opie and anthony and it's only one night. You'd think he could have sucked it up and stayed if he wanted to.

He's mentioned this a few times in passing on his advice show as well when helping people with career advice - he basically said something to the effect of, other people that you know and work with won't look out for your career.

Another example is Lewis Black. He and Jim Norton were arrested together for the voyeur bus, they toured together as co-headliners, and they even had a website together - Lewis blew up and did nothing to help Norton.

If you look around and have at least 5-6 of your best comic friends that turned into pretty gigantic stars, and they didn't "help you out," the common denominator is either your comedy or your attitude. With Jimmy, I can see both being an issue.

True, but it's happened enough where it may be Jim that's not taking advantages of opportunities others have given him? we don't really know if it's their fault or his. He always seems to blame them though.

You're probably right regarding only hearing his side of things. I already think he suffers from BPD, which is basically overly-sensitive emotions, black-and-white thinking, over-analyzing things, if something is uncertain it can automatically be a jump to "ah, fuck it what's the use, why bother" type thinking.

Chris Hardwick thing is the perfect example.

Yeah but Jimmy is always getting favors from guys like Louis CK, Kevin Smith, etc. and he doesn't really do much with it

Probably heroin too.

Never shoulda danced with the Lady H.

hahaha, jesus christ this Jim Norton resents Bill Burr shit is fucking hilarious. Most likely bullshit, but it's still hilarious. Keep speculating, guys. It's gonna even be funnier when he finally addresses it on the air cause you know lil jimmy reads this subreddit in another tab while he's edging to tranny porn.

Jim never watches other comics. Doesn't want to be "influenced."

He should really start. He'd see his comedy is about 10 years behind the curve of good comedy these days.

Clearly you didn't hear his new stuff. It's pretty edgy. Apparently he's done some naughty things with women who may be prostitutes.

I'm not inferring anything. But he did recently do the Artie Lange Show until 1AM.

Sometimes you can run on adrenalin, sometimes you can't.

I hate whenever Jim is plugging his upcoming spots he always puts on a soft bummed out sounding cry baby voice...If I was attended one of those shows, I would refund my ticket asap, ungrateful fuck

He does it on Twitter too, on a Tuesday he'll be like "Tickets still available for my Saturday show in (wherever). LOTS of tickets available." or some other self-deprecating dig about lack of sales. Then on Sunday, he'll say "Thank you all for the sold out shows all weekend, all great crowds."

Every comedian's goal is to move from the clubs to the theaters. Jimmy has seen almost everyone of his friends make the switch. Even with the Tonight Show and O&A every morning he's not really that close to being a theater level comedian.

He must have pissed someone off at Comedy Central because he'd be perfect for those Roasts and those things will double your numbers overnight.

Jimmy has always been a Schtick. He got comfortable with the show and never grew much in his comedy. Watch his specials and there is little variety in the humor. Seems to me that he aged out of his Schtick unfortunately, while the rest of the guys "developed". What has he added to his resume in the last ten years? beyond Leno, where once again he was TV poison, and just like that the show is gone!

Somebody get this guy a spot on the KROLL Show. There is one Id like to see him kill. Bring in the Cooler!

One thing that would be tough for Jimmie is his politics. For instance, Nick Kroll's dad is a multibillionaire and Kroll sounds fairly liberal in interviews. So the radio rants may be perceived as sexist/misogynist/racist. (Even though I don't think he is, but fucking liberals are quick to jump to conclusions.)

He did the Saget roast I believe. He did a great job, but unfortunately for him he was overshadowed by Norm's set. It really doesn't make sense why he wasn't asked back, though.

He only got to do that because Saget specifically requested him. He'd fit so well into the comedy roasts though. He has some of the best one liners off the top of his head ever on the radio show.

I saw Jimmy in a theater 10 or 11 years ago - he didn't fill the upper deck, but it was nearly full. The problem is that he's gone backwards - I saw him in a club about a year ago in the same city.

Yep. I saw Jimmie in a huge theater in Seattle. The set was underwhelming, but the place was packed.

Five years later he played Helium in Portland, which is about 25% the size. I don't think it even sold out.

But this is another example of why he should move to L.A. Guys like Bert Kreischer and Marc Maron sell that room out all the time, and a big part of that is because they play it frequently, because they can get to the show in about two hours non-stop from LAX.

Maybe he was tired.

I love Jimmy a lot and idk if this particular instance he was jealous of Burr but we've seen many times in the past where he has publicly said he was jealous of his comic friends' success so who knows. I feel like Jim has got a lot of help from guys like O&A, Jay Leno, Louis CK, Kevin Smith, Colin Quinn, etc. and he still isn't at the level where he wants to be. In my opinion I think he's a huge success and shouldn't be so hard on himself. I also feel like he should stop blaming everyone else because he might be the problem.

I agree with everything you just said, but don't agree with OP that he left due to jealousy. He sounded like he genuinely regretted not sticking around for Bill and Nick who he never gets to see.

He was praising Burr on Breaking Bad today. Really happy for him. You're a dummy.

It wasn't long ago that Jim and Burr were being offered the same bus gig...

It's geography. Bill Burr has been in Los Angeles for half a decade. Louis CK seems to be bi-coastal, but considering all the shows he's done in Los Angeles, it's safe to assume he has a place out there.

All the other guys? New York City or Jersey. Patrice, Attell, Bob Kelly, Colin, Vos, etc.

Do the math, if you want to get to the next level in comedy you have to roll the dice and spend some time in Los Angeles.

If it doesn't work out, that sucks, you go back home and deal with it. But as long as you stay on the east coast your chances of getting to the next level are slim.

Carrolla is an obvious example of this. If Adam Carolla was based out of NYC he wouldn't have mansions and Lamborghinis and three TV shows. He'd be playing tiny clubs in New Jersey like Vos.

Besides geography, another reason for Louie's sucess and Burr's success is that regular people can relate to them. Check out some of Louie's shows from ten years old, they're really not that good. But after he had kids and got divorced, he hit on this huge pot of comedy bits. Easily half of the world can relate to raising kids, but how many people can relate to fucking trannies?

Burr does a lot of good material on the battle of the sexes. But Jimmy can't relate to that, he just pays for sex.

This might sound mean, but I wonder if he's ever considered having someone else write for him? There's plenty of comics that do this, and it might bring some fresh material to his sets, which seem to be dominated by prostitute jokes and complaints about his appearance.

i thought he was late, not that he left early...? he mentioned the group photograph and that keith had to leave early...

Wanda must have needed something.

No.

Just no.

I don't think Jimmy has accepted/is aware that his popularity is mostly due to his crazy work ethic, and his endearing of himself to better comedians. He self-deprecates, gets them to think of him as the lovable little perverted underdog, wins their hearts enough to get invited to a good gig every now and then, then promptly gets abandoned when their career moves on. He's like a trophy wife that jumps from husband to husband. I mean, he sure as hell hasn't gotten by on his material. It's been the same angry social commentary and talking about his perversions for as long as I can remember.

I'm so sick of this shit. ME ME ME.
