This might sound a bit odd or gay or whatever, but where do you guys go for positive entertainment?
18 2014-02-10 by [deleted]
I tend to be a cynical and kind of negative person, which is why I probably like O&A to begin with, but occasionally I'll feel like listening to O&A is just too much negativity. Do you guys know any good podcasts that take a positive spin on things? I tend to be repulsed by things like that, which is why I'm asking. Surely there's something decent out there that doesn't mention dead babies on the half hour. Erock, comment?

I'd say a good percentage of O&A fans are right with you there buddy.

Is your name Billy?

Joe Rogan Experience or Ron and Fez

Depending on who's on it can be especially positive. I love whenever Duncan Trussell is in studio.
3 Anton_Lemieux 2014-02-10
Ever listen to the Duncan Trussell Family Hour? It's good stuff.
I tend to enjoy his podcast more than his appearances on others.
0 YouAintGotToLieCraig 2014-02-10
He's one of the biggest reasons I don't listen to that podcast.
1 rottengymshorts 2014-02-10
Why is that?
2 Smitty_Dunbar 2014-02-10
I also don't listen to the Duncan episodes. It's because I don't care about the Bhagavad Gita and he seems to say nothing that you wouldn't hear from some barefoot guy at a farmer's market.

Go outside and take a walk.
3 bu77munch 2014-02-10
Walking is still honest.

Good call. I get a lot of exercise, but I also need a steady diet of audio to go with it.
10 Drunken_Wizard23 2014-02-10
I get where you're coming from, I listen to You Made It Weird with Pete Holmes, Comedy Bang Bang, Smodcast, and Mohr Stories if I wanna hear people who still have a semblance of a zest for life.
1 sortofnatural 2014-02-10
Yeah... You Made It Weird is pretty dern good. Grab the episode with Harris Wittels.
I also enjoy the Film Junk podcast. A merry bunch of Canadians chatting about movies. Hilarious and at times vulgar. Great easy listening.

You're not a fag at all. I get it. Jan-March 2011, I stepped away for a few months because I found myself Fanboying out a little too hard. I thought everything sucked, and anyone who I deemed unworthy needed to "clutch their chest on a christmas and fall into the tree...which then burns down...and somehow everyone loses T-Cells".
It's good that you even notice, because if you didn't your life could lead to google pictures of Sam's wife, learning Opie's children's names, finding Ant's address, or plotting the death of Danny Ross...
Doesn't mean they suck, doesn't mean you're a giant fag because you don't want to hate everything.
2 Biohzd79 2014-02-10
Did you succeed in any of your Google searches?
7 balderoonus 2014-02-10
I'm more interested to see if he managed to plot the death of Danny Ross
3 christschinn 2014-02-10
Yeah he obviously didn't do it well enough
1 PaulBunyan69 2014-02-10
Fun fact: I once saw a link to a gallery of Sam's wedding. They aren't lying in the slightest bit when they say Jess is out of his league.
1 Wsallgood 2014-02-10
Yeah-- yeah that pretty much sums it up.
I go back and listen to old Special Delivery shows (there are 3 years worth out there somewhere). Some Rogan, Ari Shaffer's podcast, sometimes Jay Mohr if I'm feeling manic.
8 [deleted] 2014-02-10
Masturbate. You can always masturbate.
6 shaqfan99 2014-02-10
I like tech podcasts, like stuff from leo laporte's TwiT.tv channel.
I don't even have the money for a lot of tech, but I like tech because it is much less depressing than cynical humor all the time, or sports arguments that I dont care to invest myself with.
Also, Mohr Stories and Marc Maron's WTF.
and audiobooks: Malcolm Gladwell books are my favorite
2 catsplayfetch 2014-02-10
I used to listen to Twit, along with the Ricky Gervais Show, and Digg nation. I was surprised at how funny Twit was, and the old Joystiq podcast was great too (the new one not so much).
6 VanDamme79 2014-02-10
O&A, HagenDas, Xvideos, sleep, repeat.
4 [deleted] 2014-02-10
Neil degrasse tyson's podcast is pretty good
0 [deleted] 2014-02-10
I think it stinks. Too short and too many ad breaks with shitty music.
He's better as a guest on other people's shows.
1 TankRizzo 2014-02-10
yeah, I went in wanting to like it but it's so fragmented with shitty production. You want douche chills? Check out his latest one where he has "God" on. Eeeeuch.
4 buzzkill_ed 2014-02-10
Joe Rogan Experience and Joey Diaz "The Church of What's Happening Now".
3 dirtfarmingcanuck 2014-02-10
Eyyy budaysss. Paulpoopbreath from Indiana, your on Ron and Fezzzzz
Its a little bit gay and a little bit odd. Sometimes positive sometimes negative, never know what youre gonna get with the Ronnie B
3 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-02-10
WTF with Marc Maron is interesting. Weird Medicine always makes me laugh, too.
5 [deleted] 2014-02-10
Good call, but listening to Maron isn't a break from anything. He's exhausting.
2 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-02-10
That's a good point. His interviews are somewhat interesting, but he is definitely exhausting at times.

1 rabblerousershadow 2014-02-10
I don't see it going anywhere, more than likely a honeypot.
3 BumbiBestie 2014-02-10
Maybe try some NPR shows such as Snap Judgement, This American Life, Car Talk, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, TED Radio Hour, etc.
2 koolhandmikey 2014-02-10
I watch a shit ton of Futurama and Venture Brothers reruns. One pretty funny podcast to add to the list, even though he hasn't done them in a while is The Jerky Boys Show with Johnny Brennan. He shoots the shit and listens to old prank calls and gets into the behind the scenes stuff. Really fascinating and fun.
1 TankRizzo 2014-02-10
WHOAH, WHOAH, WHOAH!!! I didn't even know this existed! My username comes from the Jerky Boys, this made my day.
2 YouAintGotToLieCraig 2014-02-10

2 catsplayfetch 2014-02-10
Larry Miller podcast is great, Comedy Bang Bang, if you can find old episodes Yeah It's That Bad is really good, Jeff Garlin's In Conversation. Ari Shaffir's skeptic tank can go either way.
2 kimchifart 2014-02-10
Try rogan
2 [deleted] 2014-02-10
Comedy Bang Bang. Not topical, not newsie, just funny people. Sometimes they don't connect since it's improv, but it's worth listening to the weaker ones to find the good ones.

I feel the same way, sometimes its just too negative..I listen to a lotta music and follow sports closely(because of this i usually change the channel during music and sports talk on the show). I find these are a good counter balance to the negativity. That said still love the show.
1 thebedshow 2014-02-10
I listen to some of Redban's podcasts that are entirely about comedy. Kill Tony and Thunderpussy are both quite good.
1 devil2king 2014-02-10
Its called Ten Minute podcast. Podcast with best friends bryan callen, chris d'elia, and will sasso. I have almost dropped weights because of a laughing fit.
1 sdpcommander 2014-02-10
Penn's Sunday School is usually pretty positive. Also, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is probably one of my favorite forms of entertainment.
I also play a lot of video games with friends and go out occasionally. What I'm trying to say is you need heavy doses of positivity to balance out O&A's negativity.
1 [deleted] 2014-02-10
Joe Rogan Experience, Star Talk Radio Show by Neil Degrasse Tyson, WTF with Marc Maron, Classic Loveline, The Artie Lange Show, Skeptic Tank with Ari Shaffir, Dan Carlins hardcore history, The Nerdist, you know what dude, monday morning podcast, You made it weird with Pete Holmes, getting high with doug, adam carolla podcast... are all podcasts and radio shows i rotate between when ive burnt myself out from o&a that day. if those dont work then i put on old saturday night virus shows like uninformed. while still slightly negative those shows are more goofy and fun than say o&a at times.
1 fingerrockets 2014-02-10
The Ace Man Adam Carolla. Reason why, is that he reminds me that I'm the only one who is going to get things done for my self so I better get off my ass. It's not designed to be a motivational podcast but often times he'll start ranting about the subject of motivation and it works for me. Basically I'm someone that needs to be yelled at, even if it's vicariously.
1 TheRadicalMan 2014-02-10
Not an answer, but I asked myself the same question this morning. Super Show 2 actually made me sad.
1 Pappus 2014-02-10
How Did This Get Made, RedLetterMedia, other things about bad movies.

tenderloins podcast-guys from impractical jokers just make fun of each other for an hour, like what OnA used to be.
Monday morning podcast-bill has seemed to calm down and have a better outlook and it helps me because im the same kind of angry irish boston guy.
