What We Learned from O&A's Grammy Commentary
9 2014-01-28 by Drunken_Wizard23
Macklemore is a phony wigger, Daft Punk are silly, Kendrick Lamaar stinks, Ringo Starr stinks, Enough with Beyonce, Pharrell's hat was stupid, Kacey Musgraves is another shitty country artist, Taylor Swift is an idiot, Robin Thicke is young and stinks, Chicago is old and stinks, They're glad Trent Rezner got stiffed, Lorde is ugly, Dave Grohl is fat, James Hetfield looks like Brian Regan, Lars is bald, and Radioactive by Imagine Dragons is AWESOME.
Not trying to dispute anything they said, but I just had to roll my eyes when Opie complained to Meat Loaf about their fans being hyper critical and cynical.

before clicking that link, I thought that was going to be the grandma fixing her spectacles.

They sounded painfully uncool yesterday, Mocking Daft Punk for wearing their 'motorcycle' helmets which they have been wearing for oh only all of their careers.
They really need to stay out of current music, they sound like confused old men.

..because they are.

Yeah. This is the kind of segment they need Sam and
Troyto weigh heavily in on. Disclaimer: I have not yet listened to the segment and Sammi may well have been there and stunk.12 Metrostars1029 2014-01-28
Just listened to the grammy portion of monday's show and I am starting to really get fed up with the guys. Jimmy was not there to provide some of his early morning soft opposing commentary so the whole segment just was a hate fest. I get it, they hate current popular music but its like nothing pleases these guys anymore. What really bothered me was how they talked about Macklemore calling him a phony and how he is just a corporate left wing politically correct machine. Macklemore's album was released independently and his pro-gay song would never have gotten any traction if it wasnt for "Thrift Shop". They just can't accept anything that the general population accepts.
but honestly, that marriage bit that they pulled at the grammys was cringeworthy as hell.

The reason Patrice's Lady Gaga bit was so brilliant is that he pointed out her attempts to make a statement in public while her "art" was used for nonsense. Whether you think Macklemore is genuine or not, at least he used the medium he's famous for to express himself.

gotta get that Patrice is brilliant quota in every thread. I was getting a bit worried...

At least their was depth to the commentary. Without him it quickly became two old white men complaining. But there is a huge market for that type of radio so I cant really blame them.

Released independently using Bob Barker's money.

Strap in for another round this morning

It made me uncomfortable when they were saying Lorde was ugly, keeping in mind shes a 17 year old girl. I am convinced they would take the best supermodel in the world and pick her apart. I wonder if Opie uses that same hypercriticism on his wife?
1 BigGreenYamo 2014-01-28
Did you see her at the Grammys? She looked like shit.

Ringo Starr-luckiest man ever born.
5 SpaceEdge 2014-01-28
Unless it's Nirvana or another type of 90's "alt" they aren't into it. Opie does find new stuff to listen to but usually 6 months after it comes out.

I didn't hear the segment so I'm wondering how they arrived at "robin thicke is young." 36 is ancient for pop music.
4 esdJellyJar 2014-01-28
They're children of the 80s so to them, he is young.
3 EdtheBroBot 2014-01-28
They're not wrong the gramys just represents the overcomecialized aspect of music which even though is profitable suffers when it comes to actual quality and integrity. All those people and imagine dragons do happen to stink.

I wish they would have said something about the Grammy's forgetting about Jeff Hanneman and Clive Burr being taken off the tribute video.

What do you expect from two white sexagenarians?
1 ThePittWolf 2014-01-28
99% of comedy is complaining and criticizing. What the fuck are you talking about?
1 souporjoe 2014-01-28
Because it's not funny?
0 ThePittWolf 2014-01-28
Then don't listen? It's their job to watch and provide commentary on things they don't like. Not yours. I don't understand what you're doing listening to the show if it's not funny.
0 Sannyasa 2014-01-28
Hopefully now that the Grammy's are over they'll cool it with the music breaks. They've been consistently unfunny lately.
0 ThePittWolf 2014-01-28
They suck because they don't listen to music marketed to teenagers.
-1 present_day_memories 2014-01-28
Sam still thinks he's 17 years old
9 dcordoba 2014-01-28
So do Opie and Anthony
1 AssholeinSpanish 2014-01-28
That's true too, and unlike Sam, O & A believe that time and culture stopped with them.
Alice in Chains... cool.
-2 dvohs13 2014-01-28
Grammy's are stupid anyways. I mainly only know Country and never watch but how the fuck did Musgraves win those awards? 1 Song that only reached 10 on country charts and she gets song and album of the year. Only shows the Grammy awards people dont know shit
9 urbanfervor 2014-01-28
Give the awards to the top charting/selling artists and people bitch that it's a popularity contest. Give them to a slightly different/less popular artist and people bitch they didn't sell enough. Why the fuck do we even pay attention to the stupid Grammys?

Damn right. Bryant Reeves.
-6 CUNTYMOM 2014-01-28
yeah they are fucking whiney bitches, they wonder where we get the idea to be critical.
go check the R&F subreddit and there is little to no criticism and if there is any is warranted. its because they dont spend their whole show complaining about how horrible everything is.
8 jimmyjon1234 2014-01-28
BE MORE FUNNY!
1 GleepGlorpFloopdedoo 2014-01-28
I wouldn't say there is little to no criticism there. The last week has seen threads like, "Let this be the official 'I hate the new show thread'", multiple Jeff Gurian hate threads, the same old "Fez problems" threads, etc etc.
1 [deleted] 2014-01-28
So you're the person who determines which criticism is "warranted" and which isn't? Got it.
