Let's clear up a few things.

This sub has been garbage the last few weeks, and with such an active, close-knit community, it's a sad sight to see. I'd like to address a few things and hopefully give you all a new perspective.
Let's just go with the latest issues:
ROLAND IS OBESE!: Yup. He is. So what? He's been like that for quite some time, why is this news? Yeah, he should take better care of himself, but it's his body, his life, and it's really none of our fucking business whether or not he's dead by October. And yeah, he's fat and makes fat jokes to Erock. That's kinda hypocritical. But so do a lot of you and there's no way you're all in shape. And they're friends, Erock even asked Roland to be his best man, you're all just a bunch of anonymous listeners who think you're in on the joke.
JIMMY ISN'T IN THE PROMO!: True. That is because the show is currently trying to appeal to a wider audience and "Opie and Anthony" (in the radio world) is a known brand. Jim Norton, while a well-known and successful comic, is not a popular name in the world of radio. Jimmy himself has explained that the brand alone is why the show is not called "The Opie and Anthony and Jimmy Show". To put it simply: Sirius/XM isn't trying to get people who see Jimmy on the Tonight Show to start listening to the opie and anthony radio program, they're trying to get people who already listen to other radio programs to start listening to the opie and anthony radio program.
WHY DO THEY WATCH VIDEOS?: Because a gigantic part of water cooler talk around the country involves whatever the latest viral video is. And if they're talking about movies, watching a clip of it can add to the discussion. Some of my favorite bits have involved them commenting on a video (Paul-O's shitty movie?). I'd love a visual element to follow along with too, but we're not getting one, so that's that.
JIMMY HAS BEEN AN IDIOT LATELY: Has he? First off, put yourself in Jim's shoes. He recently had a pilot not work out (I think, I don't even know), that has to really hurt (if it's still going on, I'm sure it's stressing him out). On top of that, Jay Leno is leaving the Tonight Show, which means Jimmy's probably not going to be on it anymore. And to just really rub it in, the show and channel has just gone through some pretty significant changes, and Jimmy has said time and time again (including yesterday on the Ron and Fez show, noon to three) that he's always afraid that he's about to be fired, and changes only make his paranoia worse. Cut the guy some slack, on his worst day he's one of the funniest fucking people on the planet.
OPIE/ANTHONY/JIM'S OPINION IS FUCKING DUMB: Of course it is. How educated and on point do you expect these three guys to be? We've all heard them say some of the dumbest shit that's ever been uttered, why are you surprised when their opinion on a certain subject makes no sense? And to drive the point home: The things that matter to you, do not matter to them. The boys have to talk about every single noteworthy issue in America, that means throwing opinions out on things they have probably never thought about. We get it, you know everything there is to know about Obamacare/Guns/The Grand Jewish Conspiracy, but not everyone gives a shit. They've talked at length about things I'm passionate about and completely fucked up the facts, I just shrugged it off. It's a comedy show, it's not the news.
THE CALLERS STINK!: Yes, they do. You're one of the callers, by the way. We all are. We just come here instead of calling in. We all stink. You want great callers? Listen to the Ron and Fez show (Noon to three).
WHY DIDN'T THEY SHIT ON BREUER!?: Because he's a fucking friend of the show and an all-around great guy who's always been nothing but an all-around great guy. That's why. He has kids, he's trying something different. It's not for me, it's probably not for a lot of us, but what's the harm in playing his song and wishing him well? Breuer's never been the bashing-type like Vos or Colin Quinn, why shit on him?
I HATE DENNY: Fuck you. Denny is everything.
I HATE SAM: And you're entitled to your opinion. Personally, I love him. He's consistently made me laugh and I think he fills in a lot of the gaps that occur when three middle-aged guys have to talk about current events. He's an asset to the show, whether you like him or not, and he's not going anywhere (seriously, radio jobs are few and far between).
I HATED DANNY: We all did.
THE BOYS COMPLAIN TOO MUCH: So do you. Specifically, about the amount of complaining that the boys do. It's their show, and it's constantly evolving. They don't owe you the show you want to hear, they're going to do a show and you can choose to listen or not.
TIM SABEAN IS A STERN SPY WHO IS LITERALLY TRYING TO MURDER THE BOYS: No, he's not. He just got a new job, he has to make a few changes. The entire point of him getting the job was to make a few changes. He's not trying to derail the show, he's trying to do his job. He's the middleman between a corporation who will always say no and three guys who will not take no for an answer. He's in a very tough spot, and while I do not agree with every change that has been made, I understand that he's doing what he can and I think he's a huge improvement over the radio wizard. And stop with the Stern hate, it's 2014. The guy gets paid millions of dollars and doesn't even have to show up for work, who wouldn't take that deal?
THIS SUBREDDIT BLOWS: Does it? How meta of you. Why don't you write a fucking essay about it like you're in middle school? Jesus fucking Christ, what a disappointment you are. You should have gone to college, you could have been somebody. But look at you, complaining about negativity. Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine? You're probably one of those assholes who think you're better than everyone else, going around like you have all the answers. What answers do you have? What good are you to anyone? I must have been out of my mind! Look at you. Why don't you do something with your life? You sit around here all day. You contribute nothing to society. You're just taking up space. Nobody expects every show to be the greatest shit ever or not to hear opinions that they don't agree with. But we need them to GIVE A FUCK AT LEAST A LITTLE. When they come in and at the beginning of the show admit they haven't got shit to say, ok that's understandable so don't sign a contract to do shows 5 days a week and get paid for those shows if you can't fill them. Do what Stern does or just don't sign a fucking contract and retire. I listen to a lot of podcasts, and it's interesting how a lot of guys do more prep for their podcast that pays $0.00 than Opie and Anthony do for a show that pays them millions. I've listened to so many podcasts where you can tell they have a list of things they want to talk about, they have guests, sometimes they even write a monologue!
This isn't rocket science, when you come prepared it works a lot better than when you just 'wing it.'

Nine times out of ten, I don't even down-vote anymore. I just click /r/opieandanthony, scan the page, and click something else if it's nothing but /r/circlejerk minus the irony. I just don't find the joy in wallowing in negativity all the time. No joy in, you know, being a "Danny." (Don't hit me...)
I do the same thing with the show, too. I turn on S206, listen for a while, and if I'm not feeling the show I listen to something else. I don't go and bitch about the show and pretend I'm offering "criticism" or pretend I know what's going on behind the scenes. And you have no idea how freeing that is.

Ok...two points I disagree with. Sam does indeed suck and his voice makes me ill. Sabean, while not as inept as the radio wizard, has never been known as a creative guy. He's a management drone who made his career maximizing profits. Look what he did to Stern's channels...increased commercial breaks, eliminated most of the paid talent on 101. He's a lazy shit who wants to coast...hence leaving one show on the channel, Sam heavily formatted, and if you've noticed, increased commercial breaks already. He will provide zero help.

With that said, the pre-show is a fucking hot mess- he can't delve into any real topics because he has to leave those for O&A. So he's left with really nothing to talk and his simpering praise of the main show (which I believe is supposed to be "hype") is just annoying.
Why have a pre-show at all? O&A have their own channel, its not like they need the lead in- everyone who is there already knows what is coming.
Shift the whole thing back a half hour, give Sam his hour post show and axe the pointless preshow.

Yeah, Sam's great. I don't see what's not to like. He's similar to the younger, "evil opie," except it doesn't sound like he's doing a bit or trying to be EXTREME. I feel a lot of peoples' dislike for him (besides his voice) stems from simply not getting his subliminal and subversive sense of humor mixed in with his "Tweener" (I can't believe I just used that term) radio personality. Sam is great. Most of the people who dislike him are outside of the 18 to 34 demographic. They come up with all sorts of excuses as to why. When really they hate to see (what they consider) a young spit-fire who is still wet behind the ears doing so well. O&A bitch about many things. Fans who like the show obviously also like to bitch, otherwise they wouldn't relate to the show at all. How is any of this surprising.
If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that the style of the show attracts those who like to complain and bitch about things and never do anything to proactively improve situations. The same kind of people who through pointing out obvious faults in O&A/society, can feel some sort of self satisfaction of being intellectually superior.

Alright I get it you don't people criticizing something that they are apparently a fan of. I don't know about other people but for me it's the hypocrisy of the guys on the show. If you are 50, constantly obsess over having a viral video and getting twitter followers, can't take criticism, have mommy/inadequacy issues and are liar to boot your gimmick shouldn't be that of the DESTROYER TEARING WALLS DOWN CALLING THE MEDIA OUT ON ITS BULLSHIT MANNNN!
