Why do they want O&A shirts without Jimmy?

I understand the shirts are to celebrate the 20th anniversary and Jimmy hasn't been with them all 20 of those years, but he's probably the most popular person on the show. I don't get it.

Listening to the show before Jimmy became apart of it is really fucked up. He changed the whole dynamic of the show on his own. O&A were just another cheese dick morning zoo before Norton showed up with his awful stories perverted tendencies.

I dunno. That bra bombing stuff is pretty edgy.

Or they could always become the only station on SiriusXM that REALLY rocks.

Hillman? Is that you?

No, but I'm pretty sure they also used to be "the rock of new york".

Even when they first came to XM, a lot of their attitude and bits they did were pretty cringey. I love them now, but anyone who says they were better at any point before 2009 is a retard.

THE GUYS GET SHIRTS!

who gives a shit about a shirt, im so sick of the super jimmy fans, they act like his mother defending him at every turn and calling into the show going "everyone missed jims joke, it was good!" or "jimmy i came to see you in iowa! it was great!" or "why isnt jimmy in the intro", why do you guys give a shit about another grown mans career, i certainly dont feel bad for him he makes a ton of money and has gotten to do amazing things, he's just ungrateful.

I like Ant the most. But I'm not naive or dishonest enough to deny that Ant alienates a lot of people. If you had strong political convictions opposite of his, you might even hate him. And I'm not even going to pretend that Opie might be the most popular.

My point was that it's odd to specifically exclude Jimmy. Considering how much people have bitched about the new intro excluding him, I would think specifically asking for their new shirts that they're selling to only have Opie and Anthony on it to mean more than something that could have simply been a production oversight.

blinking uncontrollably Because he STINKS and i don't like him!! blinking uncontrollably

Most popular? You're kidding, right?

Top 3 at least.

Sam is up there

Actually I think Jimmy might be the most popular person who is more popular than Jimmy?

No, not at all. Opie's definitely not and Ant actually repels a lot of people. Why is that such a crazy statement on my part?

Because he's replaceable. Jim could decide to go do something else, and the show would go on - and ratings wouldn't change. It's essentially be the same show it's always been. If Opie left, or if Anthony left, the show would change dramatically.

I would stop listening if Jim left. There is no way he's replaceable.

Do you actually even listen to the show? He is a massive part of what it has evolved into. They might be okay without him but it would absolutely not be the same show.

You do realize that Jim has been third mic since 02'/04' right? So, what show are you talking about that will go on? WAAF?

Listen to the shows when Patrice replaced Jimmy while he was shooting Lucky Louie. They are some of their best shows of all time. Jimmy can be replaced. They just need another Patrice...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you'll probably get a lot of up votes for mentioning Patrice...

But Opie is replaceable too. Sam could do it. And Nick DiPaolo played a good Opie roll on the Nick & Artie Show. The problem with speculating on that is that Opie doesn't let people replace himself. When Ant's been out, they've usually brought in another comedian. When Opie's out, nobody replaces him.

EDIT: I'm not an Opie hater. He might be the only person on the show with some actual initiative and direction when it comes to the show. But I'm also not deaf to the fact that he's nothing special when it comes to on-air talent.

because the title of the show is fucking opie and anthony so thats probably why.

Yes!

Good observation, but you're being disingenuous to the fans who would buy if you think that they're preoccupied with the name of the show as opposed to who they listen to every day.

When people at work ask me what I'm listening to I say the Opie and Anthony show. Not the Opie, Anthony, and Jimmy show. It's branding and name reconition. He's third mic and even he says that he can be replaced. Just like Artie replaced Jackie on Howard Stern. If Jimmy left the show would go on. If Opie or Anthony left the shows no longer Opie and Anthony and it would be over. He's an important and funny part of the show but listen to the old o&a shows when burr, patrice, vos, or bob Kelly would sit in for Jimmy. The show was just as good if not better especially when patrice or burr filled in. Jimmy is definitely replaceable.

Dude, believe me, I understand what you're saying. O&A at their ratings pinnacle were just O&A, with no third mic. But right now, today, fuckin Chip gets as many references as the three of them. You're putting way too much weight into their brand and name. If Jimmy left suddenly tomorrow, as in, no more Jimmy forever, the show would get shitcanned by A LOT of people. I'm skeptical the same would happen if O or A left and were replaced by another comic or another host. If Ronnie or Sam replaced Opie, or they got a comic to replace Ant, I think the show would go on. The thing you're not getting is that there are people that would applaud O or A getting removed - nobody would applaud Jimmy getting replaced - either because O isn't funny or because A is a right-wing racist whatever. Sure, they'd have to change the name, but I really think you're misreading the nature of the fan base right now.

The show would not get canned if Jimmy left. You can't be serious. Jimmy is clearly replaceable. Again listen to old shows when comedians were allowed to come fill in for Jimmy. Not only that but management has tried to push Jimmy out before and the only way management would give Jimmy a raise is if he did an advice show. If they loved him that much he'd just get a raise for what he does on o&a. Throw in a solid 3rd mic and the show does just fine even with fans. There was a point when Artie lange got as many references and laughs as stern but it was still Howards show. It's o&a show and that's pretty much the bottom line. Jims not as important as you think. I love him and I even saw Jimmy live this past week but your crazy if you think the shows success rides mostly on Jim. Anthony is considered the funniest by many. Not just fans but well established comedians credit Anthony as the funniest on the show. Also Jim even admits himself the brand is o&a. That's why the shirts are that way. Jimmy himself doesn't want that changed. Also any real fan knows Jimmy is involved in the show. It's a simple fucking t-shirt meant to probably advertise the show more and recognize the 20 years o&a have been together. You're reading to much into it.

Fair enough. I'm not trying to knock you or be a Jimmy sycophant, and those are all great points. I just think you're reading too much into the past and not really reflecting what the fanbase is like. All three of them are replaceable. Just because you have good examples of Jimmy being replaced when he was doing other shit doesn't mean that there wouldn't be good shows if Ope or Ant were replaced. I mean, Ope, Jimmy and Bill Burr could be a great show too. My point is that Jimmy's probably the most popular of the three and too much of the fanbase now rests on him for him to be "replaceable".

i, for one, am glad they are getting shirt, but there should be varients, like some with jimmy in various characters (uncle paul, chipbacca, etc..) along with just the guys as well

I don't think he is the most popular. He may be the most agreeable because he tries to be reasonable most of the time, but the person who actually makes me want to listen is Ant. If jimmy isn't in studio it really doesn't bother me at all. If Ant isn't in studio I usually expect the show to lose something because Ant is funny, and has his crazy right-wing ideals. I don't agree with a lot of that shit but that is why I like listening to him go on his rants. I like hearing things that challenge my opinions (and make me laugh in the mean time).

Jimmy, much the way Artie Lange did, was able to use a radio program to propel his career to a level that it probably would not have otherwise reached. He never fails to get his plugs in, and he makes a good salary for sitting around bullshitting on the radio. I'd be hard pressed to feel like he is getting shafted at all.

'CAUSE THEY HAAATE HIIIM!!!!
