Fewer guests.....

Thank fucking god!!! Maybe I'm one of the few, but I hated when they got Roland and suddenly had all these people coming through the studio. Once in a while it works really well but a lot of the time the fuckers are stiff and boring.

i wish they had more comedians in
18 [deleted] 2014-01-10
I don't know why they don't have Norm McDonald on, he's hilarious, and he also shares a lot of Ant's political views.
32 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
They had Norm on and pushed him out so Jimmy could get a picture and ask some UFC guy the same 5 questions.
18 ryanasimov 2014-01-10
Just listened to that show today (it was from 3-31-11). It really was ridiculous; Norm was hilarious and had a good flow but they just HAD to speed past him so Jim could fawn over Brock Lesnar.
10 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
I'm a MMA/UFC fan also but Brock is a fucking bore.
28 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
Every UFC fighter is fucking boring.
-1 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
I gotta disagree with that some of them have some sort of personality but Brock isn't one of them.
12 Buttpudding 2014-01-10
The vast majority of them are fucking meatheads who don't know shit. Source: JRE
4 CMacLaren 2014-01-10
Josh Barnett and Chael Sonnen are some of the few I like to listen to.
1 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
Yeah two are great there are a few others also but there are some hard ones to listen to i.e. Brock and Anderson Silva
1 Buttpudding 2014-01-10
The only enjoyable thing silva has ever said was his broken leg scream.
5 Gardenfarm 2014-01-10
Because he's agoraphobic and lives in SF, he even stopped doing his own show.
8 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Oh, holy shit, I didn't know that, too bad.
3 Gardenfarm 2014-01-10
I was a big fan of it, it's supposedly supposed to come back in February but he's said that a few times throughout the year since he stopped it.
3 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Yeah, first it was that he got sick, then it was coming back in August. I gave up after that. It's a shame because it was one of the most genuinely funny podcasts I'd ever heard.
-5 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
Shut up, Nazi asshole eater.
2 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
All of the above statements are wrong.
1 Happy_ScrappyHeroPup 2014-01-10
He's behind the pace on a publishing deadline for a book so the podcast is on hiatus. He'll be back.
4 yadungooft 2014-01-10
Norm doesn't leave his apartment in LA.
1 occult91 2014-01-10
maybe howard says not too? i dont listen to howard so not sure how often he even does that show
6 99ovr 2014-01-10
Can't imagine Norm giving a fuck what Howard tells him to do
2 occult91 2014-01-10
yea that is true honestly
1 chiliPismysignature 2014-01-10
He's been on
12 dukefett 2014-01-10
I wish they were allowed to have regulars on again. Like years ago when they had Bobby and Patrice on a few times a week sometimes, I know the bosses had them stop the practice years ago, but maybe Sabien will be more inclined to let it happen and let them take some control. I'm not sure who would step in however, Bobby doesn't live in the city anymore, Patrice is gone; there's basically Colin.
13 Puddinlegzz 2014-01-10
If Colin came on I would be so happy
6 occult91 2014-01-10
yea but there are tons of people to have on like dan soder, or lady di
3 Mrcoxie 2014-01-10
Where did Patrice go?
5 rjl_ 2014-01-10
He went to live on a farm.
3 Mrcoxie 2014-01-10
Ah that's nice. I hope he's doing well.

Colin would probably come in everyday if they wanted.
3 Whyver 2014-01-10
Oh yeah I don't count comics at all
34 CMacLaren 2014-01-10
I like it when they have guests that genuinely enjoy being on the show and are good at it. Joel McHale is a good example.

13 RogueFloppers 2014-01-10
I want more of Bobby, Bill, Colin, Vos, DiPaolo, and such. Maybe not so many at a time, Bob and Vos at the same time is just a blither fest, but I like to hear a different people in the studio every few days.
12 PigsArePunished 2014-01-10
It's an unfortunate fact that to get the amazing or big-name guests, they need to take the small/uninteresting guests on the same management.
6 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Nobody gets this. You can't tell shitty guests to fuck off and expect to get big names when they're represented by the same agency. The same thing happens with movie theaters and studios.
10 rumpumpumpum 2014-01-10
Everybody gets it. They've even talked about it on the show, which is probably where you heard it.
The point is that "big" does not equal "amazing" and "small" does not equal "uninteresting". But the overriding point is that O&A is not an interview show, it's a comedy show. People tune in to O&A for the laughs, not to hear some celeb promote their latest project. If that's what you want then there are dozens and dozens of other shows that you can tune in to that do it much better.
Unless celebrity guests can be hilarious, which is a real shot in the dark, then they have no business on the show. And Ant and Jim (the one's who do most of the interviewing) are as good at conducting interviews as they are at political cometary and technology reviews.
Like former tennis hustler Bobby Riggs once said, "You have to know your limitations." And like Homer Simpson says, "BE MORE FUNNY!"
9 kol- 2014-01-10
Yeah but the big name guests suck ass too

11 Gregsbouch 2014-01-10
I am enjoying it much much more, guests are 90% boring. Roland needs to focus more on who will work on the show not so much who is hot right now. Edit: And Roland NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT SUITS IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
8 okconsumer 2014-01-10
I hate how he never bring in comedians, NYC is littered with young great standups but they'll have a comedian in once and then its back to Michael Shannon.

Bill Burr is just awesome. Saw him at the Tower in Philly last year. SOLD THE FUCK OUT and he killed. As a bonus, he challenges Anthony's racism.
Ant's racist rants are often funny, but they grow tiresome if he has no one to rein him in. Patrice used to be the guy who could open Ant's eyes to another POV. Ole Billy Redface now has to fill that role, but he's not in studio enough for it to matter.
1 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
Bill is a transvestite? No wonder why I love him/her.
9 Gregsbouch 2014-01-10
Sometimes young comedians don't work...Colin Kane....I have been loving Dan Soder on the show tho, but he was vetted with Bobby.
8 okconsumer 2014-01-10
All it would take to know that Colin Kane would suck for the show is googling his stand-up. It's atrocious
7 Gregsbouch 2014-01-10
I imagine Colin Kane is working at a gas station somewhere, he can't possibly still have a career.
4 okconsumer 2014-01-10
Last I heard he had pretty much all the alternative LA guys hating him, he does well at colleges and clubs but I've never heard one positive thing about him from another Comic.
3 Happy_ScrappyHeroPup 2014-01-10
I've seen Kane a handful of times when he had a monthly show at Gotham, and even before that when he was coming up in little shithole bar shows in the Village.
His crowdwork is great, but his material is played out. When he would come on the show he hardly contributed anything at all, but I'll give him credit for staying the fuck out of the way.
1 okconsumer 2014-01-10
Usually the comedian who are brought in are reccomended by Bobby or Jim or one of the boys, who brought Kane in?
1 Happy_ScrappyHeroPup 2014-01-10
Pretty sure Opie saw him somewhere and asked him to come in.
1 okconsumer 2014-01-10
That explains it
7 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
Colin Kane sucked on the show, Dan Soder is good shit they should have him on more.
2 normanbusket 2014-01-10
Soder was good. I really liked Michael Che on the show too. IDK why they cant get these young NYC guys all the time
2 gsbird1065 2014-01-10
Roland works for SiriusXM, and SiriusXM management doesn't want Comedians on the O&A show. Howard doesn't like it.
11 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
Shut the fuck up about Howard. He doesn't care about O&A. This isn't 2002.
6 krbin 2014-01-10
The ad department also got shitty that time they tried to say that comedy clubs should buy ad time if a comedian is going to plug a gig.
3 Slippery_Slope_Guy 2014-01-10
How fucking stupid is that? Do they ask movie theaters to pay up when they have actors on?
5 okconsumer 2014-01-10
Does the Tonight Show charge for guests every night? NO! This is bureaucratic nonsense
-5 TreborCee 2014-01-10
When is Opie going to publicly say "Fuck Howard!" as loud as he can. If he's smart, he'll stand his ground, loudly. The ensuing shitstorm should also be made public as well as any fines or suspensions. The publicity would do them good, even it results in a lot of suspensions and meetings.
6 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
You're a dumb faggot.
-7 TreborCee 2014-01-10
And you- And both brain cells, can go pound sand up your ass with a small spoon. I'll PM you directions with lotsa pics.
3 HANKKKINGSLEY 2014-01-10
still no pm
4 just_plain_yogurt 2014-01-10
Opie desperately wants to BE Hoo-Hoo. He might as well have it tattooed on his forehead.
0 TreborCee 2014-01-10
Why not? He's the top of the mountain. Howard will make sure it all gets done behind the scenes so he's not the "bad guy" and Opie will look like a paranoid lunatic by calling out the spineless meetings called by execs (at Howards' bidding) but the more light he sheds on it, the more attention it gets. Howard will never address the show directly, as that would put O&A on an equal footing- but if O&A call it play-by-play, with recordings during meetings (refusing to meet without recorded evidence, mind you..) then you have an old-school radio rivalry. Howard's been getting away with too much lately. Time to make him pay.
Attention is what the show needs. I like the new channel format. It needs some controversy. Opie bitching for 45 minutes made him look like a disconnected brat making too much money to see the forest for the trees. Call it what it is, and get some press coverage while doing it.
1 yeeerrrp 2014-01-10
Cant have a media destination with out 'hot' celebs!
10 steve1879 2014-01-10
I didn't like that they turned down Gillian Jacobs. She seemed to really enjoy herself, and really get it when she was in the few times before.
5 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Yeah, I thought see was going to be a hole, but she was really cool, also she is a total babe.
5 fireants 2014-01-10
Ron interviewed her well.
3 SavePoonerman 2014-01-10
Gillian is very smart and clever too, not just a pretty face. It's too bad.
9 Aureez 2014-01-10
Some of the best shows they have is without anyone famous and some of the best moments, loved the Christmas supershow and they only had Colin Quinn.

Time to Gang Fuck Colin Quinn?
6 tohiba 2014-01-10
Was this something officially announced? This week they had Dean Cain and the Impractical Jokers. The guest list was even shittier than usual.
5 pootsforever 2014-01-10
I thought Joel McHale was pretty funny.
1 _flateric 2014-01-10
They mentioned passing on someone today and that they're just not taking celebs anymore unless they want to actually talk to then, regardless of there being a new project etc.
1 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Dean Cain was great. That is the type of guests I think they should have more of. Don't have to be huge celebrities to have a fun and interesting interview.
-2 DancesWithCanoes 2014-01-10
The impractical jokers were great and the guys loved them and asked them to come back
1 tohiba 2014-01-10
I started skipping the interviews years ago so I didn't even hear it.
1 DancesWithCanoes 2014-01-10
I listen for a bit and if they're boring I turn it off. These guys were funny.
-4 thebedshow 2014-01-10
Both of those guests jived pretty well with the flow of the show, so........shut the fuck up?
5 imru2727 2014-01-10
But... I was to believe this was a media destination?
12 imru2727 2014-01-10
BTW fuck the celebrity guests. I'd rather hear about Bobo's life before any celebrity
0 just_plain_yogurt 2014-01-10
Really? Bobo is as boring as Rick Delgado was.
Those 2 should NEVER get mic time. EVER.
5 imru2727 2014-01-10
You my friend, are insane. Team Bobo all day
1 just_plain_yogurt 2014-01-10
Bobo is great for about 2 minutes. After that he's just an annoying retard. Enjoy it, Mr. Hughes.
1 cali_nico 2014-01-10
I know. The only thing funny about Bobo was Patrice laughing at his dick.
5 DeafandMutePenguin 2014-01-10
My favorites are the bits they do with the staff and regulars.
Yesterday with Vos I laughed so many times cuz the boys made his story so much more listenable with their jokes and comments. I normally turn it off with most guests cuz they bring very little to the show.
2 pekingoose 2014-01-10
That guy they had on from that Sitcom the other day was a fuckin handbrake to the show.Guests are usually more miss than hit.
1 telemecanique 2014-01-10
it needs to be balanced, few people pushing their shit may be ok, IF they're interesting, but 7/10 it's borefest.
1 [deleted] 2014-01-10
Agreed!
1 SpaceEdge 2014-01-10
They should do what they said today pawn all these celebrity guests off to Sam let him do a interview show. He likes to interview these people and acutely knows who they are and the work they are there to promote.
1 RobAChurch 2014-01-10
I don't think you are "one of the few", most listeners hate the guest heavy shows. For the most part the boys are at their best when they just riff with eachother or other comics. I don't mind some of the more obscure or odd guests like when they would have michio kaku in and make fun of how he talks and how he is afraid of them, before and after his appearance. Or I remember they had the guy from the HBO autopsy show on for like 2 1/2 hours (dr boden I think??) or the guy Shane from vice.
I guess a guest is best went they aren't being interviewed but when they are the catalyst for a discussion and participate in whatever they are talking about. I hate listening to some b lister ramble on and on about whatever their latest project is.
1 Afghan_Whig 2014-01-10
It's bad enough that I'm paying to listen to commercials, but to have these endless guests hawk whatever the fuck they are doing on top on that is too much
1 trollbotix 2014-01-10
Solution:
Jocktober year-round, but only every other month
More [ Zimmerman / Casey Anthony ]-esque cases for Anthony to rant about.
0 Brodster 2014-01-10
Great!
0 Prowler_Dante 2014-01-10
You can't tell me that the guys from Impractical Jokers weren't hilarious. One of the best parts of this weeks shows. Other great parts were goofing on MC Serch ALL WEEK, as well as when Joel McHale was in as well.
2 Motorboat_Jones 2014-01-10
Of course I can. They sucked.
1 Hard_Fiskur 2014-01-10
Their show is great.
Can't help it if some folks don't like anything beyond poop jokes.
0 Motorboat_Jones 2014-01-10
Anyone but the Impractical Jokers dickheads. Most unfunny guests ever. Fucking ball-washing waste of time.
1 Hard_Fiskur 2014-01-10
I enjoyed it... and started watching their show. It is possibly the funniest shit I've ever seen. Sometimes they do turn me on to new stuff.
I recommend checking it out.
-2 [deleted] 2014-01-10
I disagree. I don't find any of their lives particularly interesting, so when I realize after 30 minutes of them idly chit-chatting that no one is coming in and nothing is planned, and that I'm listening to what the show will be like for the next two and a half hours, I usually bail.
There's enough talent in the room that they wouldn't need guests if they were all doing the show at 100%, but I think at this point they kind of need guests.
12 ixcuincle 2014-01-10
Eventually all the banter gets boring. It's good to have guests.
The show complained about not getting guests for years, complains that they aren't high profile enough. HERE'S SAM ROBERTS WITH A GUEST WE COULDN'T GET. Then all of a sudden they get guests and it's bad?
-4 Biohzd79 2014-01-10
