So apparently Tom Leykis does an internet only "radio" show. Who knew?

First off I'm not a fan, but I've been listening to talk radio all my life and this stuff fascinates me.

Despite being awful, Leykis was very big on the west coast and I think he might be the 'biggest' radio talk name to go internet-only. I'm only posting this because we talk a lot about O&A's options in a post-Sirius situation and other than "podcast," internet-radio show is frequently suggested - so here's a former syndicated talker with a large "young male demo" audience actually doing it. Does anyone know what kind of numbers he's putting up? I'm not speculating anything about O&A's future or suggesting what they should do. And I'm sure they would do better than Leykis since they, you know, have talent, but it's an ineresting case study.

Loose definition of 'interesting' sure, but that's the internet for ya.

James Adomian does a great Leykis impression. Probably the only person who does one

I was listening to him do it on an old comedy bing bong on youtube last night and one of leykis's actual clips showed up in the sidebar, that's how I found out. It's hilarious. Especially the way he slurs up his words.

Here's a good article his move to internet radio. It talks about his numbers too:

Thank you!

Well he also invested a million dollars of his own money (granted he has like 4 other streams) and has yet to make a profit. For some reason I don't see O&A being this entrepreneurial. Here's some data from Leykis

I wish I didn't hate him and his show so much. It's a really interesting experiment and - assuming he's being honest - the transparency is fascinating.

Why do you hate him? How did he do you wrong? Please share to the class.

In the end no matter how much they whine about their bosses, Tony and Gregg are "good" employees. They'll do whatever they need to to keep the money trickling in. So much for "job creators".

I remember when Leykis was on WNEW. Big time enemy of the show. That shit was fucking terrible.

I agree.

Old thread, but no one mentioned that he announced he is giving it one more year to turn a profit, and if he doesn't make any money, he's out.

He's not looking for big money, he's just not going to do it at a loss.

I don't think he has any interest in doing a podcast, but it's the live call-in aspect and employees that make the show relatively more expensive than podcasts.

Who?
