This. The biggest reason I listen is because when they do have interesting guests on they usually do an excellent job with them.

Being in the location that they're in, with the following they have, there should be someone worthwhile everyday.

At this point Opie, Ant, and Jimmy could do a better job by just calling their friends up.

I must be hard of hearing because when they have guests on they are typically unprepared... if it is a female, they talk about her body (Avril Lavigne) ... if a guy like Dean Cain, they have nothing worthwhile to talk about. I love to hear their shit interview, and then a real professional (Ronnie B) interview them. It is like night and day. I actually prefer a Sam interview. He at least makes an effort.

Avril Lavigne was touring the station and not an intended guest, just walking buy and they called out to her and got her and the guy she married from Nickleback to stop in.

I thought they did a great job with the cast members from Breaking Bad this year. Great job with NDT too.

And I do enjoy both Ron and Sam as interviewers, though not a fan of whatever the hell Ron and Fez have become.

It's gotta be hard to get guests to come on when Opie spends 15 minutes shitting on the guests they do get. He treated Dean Cain like garbage before he came in. Then they bitch about "media destination". This channel died when Ronnie B left. They just don't even try anymore. The interns can only come up with so many bad bits.

Bourdain and DeGrasse are two of the best guests they've had. The bad thing is that Opie is such a fucking dolt with good guests.

LOL.... I like guests like those two, but yes, no one, other than Ant can talk to DeGrass... none of them know what to do with Bourdain.

When I listen to those old XM shows, it's amazing how many comedians have come and gone. Remember when CK would stop by two or three times a month? And Burr was there all the time too. Even Bob Kelly, Vos, and Joe DeRosa are a welcome distraction every once in a while.

The thing is, half of those guys moved to Los Angeles, blew up, or both. I don't expect CK to stop by more than once a year nowadays, and guys like Ricky Gervais likely came by because of him.

So that means there needs to be some new blood on the show, to fill in the hole that's left by CK, Patrice and Burr.

No point for those guys to come on O&A when they all either have their own podcast or they do the comedian podcast circuit.

My girlfriend also despises the show.. I think a lot of men have to listen and laugh, hear the bitching and the drama all alone, kind of sad really. It's like a guy soap opera.

Well they kinda painted themselves in a corner as far as taking a positive angle on stories. They trash shows that do that for "being too nice." They pretty much have no choice but to hate stuff ha. I hope it isn't the "phony outrage" that they condemn though.

This is why I don't know why people don't like Sam because he's the only positive aspect of the show in my opinion and to be honest when its just Jimmy and Anthony they sit and reminisce about fun times and I know its usually without direction but on the "Nopie" there seems to be a lot more fun conversation going on and I still like Opie but I feel like a lot of the negative vibes come from his end

The thing is, Opie bitches like a nagging woman. Keeps going and going, doesn't know when to quit, repeats himself. Sometimes Jim does the same, but not often. Opie is really just a plague.

Exactly, Sam makes Jocktober. As in "making the bit." Jocktober was great this year because of Sam's work. 80% of the comedy wasn't from the hosts.

Also in general Sam will bring up a regular topic that is interesting for the younger listeners (I'm 19) and then Opie shuts it down and says its stupid

I haven't listened to the show regularly for years because it's been "The-O&A-complain-about-management-while-making-a-fuck-ton-of-money-show" for YEARS now.

The only time i listen to an O&A show is if there is someone interesting on the show (Ron B, a good comic, etc) or some cross R&F drama.

Otherwise it's the same old boring shit out of that show.

It is unbelievably negative. Google the fight between Jimmy and Opie, the two most negative people on the show. Opie is telling Jimmy he wants to be more positive and not all about the negative. What a load of poop. Like I've said, you have Opie bringing up whatever news story there is, and the other two trying to crack wise about it. It is extremely tired. I can tune in every morning and it is immediate complaining from them.... about how the studio sucks, the headphones, the air quality.... bitch bitch bitch.

I give Sam credit for being kind to his callers and trying to be interesting... his after show was often better than the regular show.

I've also grown to love JImmy's advice show and preferred that.

haha i got on the ass end of the preshow monday, asked if we really need a preshow and an aftershow. sam compared it to football, seems like a little bit too much to me, i dont know about you guys.

who gives a shit about how they treat their callers? have you heard the callers when they call in? they are almost all terrible and add nothing to the show. they should only do calls from other comedians and the show's regulars. besides, its their show, they can treat the callers however they wish.

I think that taking calls is a real art; if you listen to guys like Ron Bennington or Art Bell, you can tell that they've developed a talent for milking good material out of callers. It's not as easy as just opening up the phone lines. The host has to do a lot of the work. A good talk show host can lead the callers and basically coax them into being more interesting.

Ronnie gets them in and out like a surgeon.

But ron and fez show is deeply rooted in callers as evident in ron taking back to back calls in every show. O&A is not built around a call in show. Ron and fez show is nothing like O&A so they really shouldn't be compared in that sense.

Listening to Opie say he's trying to be more positive in his life is the most cringe inducing shit ever. It kills me when he brings up his meditation, like he's got some sort of spiritual upper hand on the boys. The irony of bragging about meditating is just too much.

The low point was Ant being a curmudgeon about Marijuana legalization, seeing as we know him and Ope smoke(d)(Ope got high last time he did Rogans for sure). Also Ants "fighting invisible people" bit that went nowhere. Someone should tally how many times hes tried a bullshit story that went nowhere, all the while they say Sam adds nothing.

Complaining can actually make really good radio, but it has to be the right kind of complaining. For instance, I could listen to Ant complain about ex-wives or ex-girlfriends almost every day of the week. And I can listen to Jimmy complain about hypocrisy in the media all day long.

The problem is Opie. He generally complains about management, and I just don't give two shits about it. Why would I? I don't work in radio. And Opie does more complaining than the other two, because it fills up time and it makes it seem like he's contributing something. (It's a lot easier to bitch about inept managers than to come up with one-liners or a quick comeback to someone elses joke.)

At least Jim and Ant's complaints are something I can relate to.

It's been nothing but bitching for a long, long, LONG time. It's really hard to admit this to myself, but I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed the show in a while. My sub was cancelled almost two years ago to date, and judging from the latest uploads on Youtube its only gotten worse. Now all I do is listen to stuff from the XM days. Those were there best years on radio in my opinion.

I've listened every day for the last few years (when I started listening), but in the meantime went back and torrented and you tubed a lot of stuff, and the difference is astounding. I'm about to the point of not listening anymore, I get a lot more 'entertainment' out of Ron and Fez or Podcasts, because they are actually talking about something. Even when other hosts bitch, there is like a 4-5 minute time limit on it.

Some of the more recent bitch-fests about either management or Zimmerman (for example) have gone 1+ hours. That's a LONG time to stay on one subject, especially when the 'jokes' are absent.

You have to bitch when the news talks about buildings having feelings.
