The only thing im aware of howard & o&a worst ofs having in common is that I wont be listening

Hoo Hoo Hoo cares?

These guys take extended breaks all the time. At least twice a year. This isn't some new revelatory event.

You guys are fucking obsessed with Howard.

But Howard the Duck is a cult classic!

There really isn't much discussion here on Stern, all things considered (at least in comparison to the way things were/would have been a few years ago).

I invented being obsessed with Howard Hoo Hoo Hoo tell 'em Fred!

At least Howard has access to all his old material, at least post 1986.

Unfortunately they edit out the really good stuff now.

incorrect, I won't feel taken advantage of. I got a year of good solid radio.

yo you guys wanna start doing heroin for the next two weeks? solid, im in.

Nope I still got more media than I can listen too or watch on hand. If O&A aren't on then I'll just catch up on a few podcasts. No big deal.

This shit is fucking petty, listen to what you like, dont listen to what you dont like, simple

All joking aside, the "workhorse" moniker really is credible; they're constantly producing content (and high-quality content at that). Juxtaposing it with Stern's current output makes it even more dramatic.

Stern interview: So tell me how big your dick is and how flabby her cunt is.

snorefest.

I never got the "Stern as the greatest interviewer around" idea either; he'd just ask crass questions that more mainstream outlets couldn't pursue.

He's obviously a lesser-known guy, but in terms of radio interviewers Ronnie B. blows him out of the water.

Ronnie B fucking legend.

I liked Howard Stern for several years since youtube started and hated O&A and could not understand how anyone liked them at all. Then I discovered Patrice but still couldn't stand O&A then about 2012 I started liking them a bit but 2012 was a awful year of filler and song parody contests. But 2013 has been fucking great and trying to listen to Howard is tortue now. Also thanks to STEVEN KNIGHT I can download the topics I am into and ignore the filler. STEVEN KNIGHT is the reason why I like O&A so much more now.

Yea, and recently I've been craving more. I've resorted to downloading the weekly podcast, also the Joe Rogan Experience (which is really good). I used to listen to Bill Burr's, but all he talks about is sports so I just said fuck it. If anyone is into skit comedy or improve, Comedy Bang Bang can be fucking hilarious at times. O&A really is in a league of it's own though, it's the most consistently (brilliantly) funny, intelligent, and entertaining form of media available. Nothing else compares, and now we must suffer. Maybe I'll try heroin.

the Joe Rogan Experience (which is really good)

what show have you been listening to the last 100 episodes? Because I know it isn't JRE. Joe has gone off the fucking deep end with shit guests and boring topics.

This is true, it seems he has increased guests that have to do with bogus theories and MMA, really boring shit. You kind of have to pick and choose now. Still a really great show to listen to.

Tell 'em, Robin! I invited the 2-week radio show break!!!

Hoo-Hoo was taking 2 week breaks in 1989-90. But he stole the idea from Johnny Carson.

I CAN'T GIVE YOU 2 WEEKS, DO YOU WANT THE TEARS TO COME OUT OF MY EYES?

I kinda glad for the break, now I can catch up on the shows I missed

I too, am shocked a guy close to 60 is taking more time off work.

Hoo hoo Robin, I invented vacations

You guys are just as Howard obsessed as the titty boy himself!

Almost as obsessed as you are with Opie.

Ah shit, swimwalk.

It's not so much an obsession as a constant "why is he here, what purpose does he serve." The guy is well, bad. He's not good at humor, storytelling, reading, doesn't do live reads, spends most interviews quietly doing sudoku. He is good at stealing IF/Twitter lines. I mean really, what are some redeeming qualities when it pertains to the show. Are you actually enjoying it when a punchline gets stepped on or some funny bit gets derailed for a killer Opster story?

Opie is to Opie & Anthony as Chanel West Coast is to Ridiculousness. Sorta stupid and sits there while the meat and potatoes get the job done.

opie sets the pace for the show

Anthony stinks at actually doing a show. When Opie is not in, you can expect lots of sheepish mutters as ant ponders beating what is already a dead horse of a topic ....And then, having nothing else to say, decides yes, he should beat it. Jimmy is along for the ride/equally inept. No Opie isn't your go-to for a punchline, but he, and sorry for the term here, keeps the boys in line. Not in terms of keeping them from being too edgy, but sometimes the opposite (getting them to punch it up a little) or just recognizing when a topic should be changed. Or continued. Or ignored. Opie brings a great balance of foresight (timing things around the breaks, heading off any potential legal issues) and spontaneity (hold on/pause/there's something here) and basically sets the stage for his more right-brained co-talent. As much as people hate on the relatively small participation Opie has in the verbal aspect of the show, he does contribute: he makes it an actual show.

Anthony and Jimmy, funny as they are, are kind of two old cat ladies chatting between the two of them. It's somewhat intriguing in its way, but some broadcasting chops really help frame Jim and ant, and often forces them to utilize their talent.

Fuck off with the "captain of ship" shit. He drones on about boring bullshit for far too long by himself, he changes the subject when he's the only one not laughing, he sucks a fucking dick. And when you Opie white knights bring up that you're tired of Jim answering calls about the Redskins, or Ant going on about blacks, where's your "Opie steers the ship" comments then? What, only when it's convenient?

Jimmy answers calls about the Redskins? Funny, he's a Cowboys fan & he's been shitting on them for at least a few years.

Opie has stated repeatedly he is only on the show to annoy people.

I love the show w/ all 3 of them present.

That said, Opie has no more "broadcasting chops" than Erock. He's a fucking board op who drones on about boring shit like his kids and his building.
