If the boys were to leave...

What would happen to the staff? Forgive my stupidity if this an easy answer, but like would they just move to other stations on air? Are guys like E-rock or Kenny specifically eployed/contracted with O&A? I'd feel bad if like Travis or others with families to support got laid off. Anyone know? Thanks!

O&A aren't going anywhere. They will re-sign in October. They bitch about everything just before contract time, then they re-up and never put these things in their new contract.

I'm happy to hear them finally discussing that they need a new agent.

[EDIT] Thus, then, the staff has nothing to worry about.

Completely agree. Lost count of how many times Opie said they definitely weren't renewing when their contracts were up last year.
It'll be the same next year.

They'll bitch and they'll moan but then they'll sign a new deal...
...Then they'll bitch and they'll moan some more.

Agreed, is it possible thays why management has done nothing for them? They show absolutely no motivation in at 6, out by 10.

If they resign in October and nothing changes I will bite their noses, dumb cunts.

That's exactly what happened last time they resigned. Like clockwork.

Kenny also doubles as Jimmy's road manager I believe. At least he was when I saw Jimmy awhile back.

Cream Soda Kevin is Jimmy's (formerly Dice's) road manager and kind-of security guy.

Guys like E-Rock, Sam, Troy, Sal are all employed by Sirius/XM, so they would move on to new positions with other shows. I personally hope Opie, Anthony, and Jimmy go the podcast route and keep it 2 hours most running time. Have Ron join the crew and you got gold. There's too many interesting podcasts out there to devote all my time to O&A anymore. If they continue to waste hours bitching over and over as per the usual, they're going to lose me. I'll just end up listening to youtube clips when I have the time.

Yeah I bet O&A can't wait to get their hands on all that podcast money. What rubes you are. They shouldn't even have been signed this time around. Don't you remember the old management team was on the way out? They were signed as a "fuck you" to the Liberty. My moneys on the show ending 9/30/14.

They could also just fire Erock Sam and Travis

You devote your time to them now. A podcast would be no different.

erock has the nagel fortune to fall back on so he'll be ok. everyone else will just go and work for rockstar full time

I believe Kenny is paid by the boys but the rest of the guys with SXM. Depending on where they end up I'd imagine that some them would follow as they'd need production/support staff to run a podcast as well.

I'd be shocked of erock, Sam and Travis have contracts with sxm. They'd likely be free to go when the time comes.

They'd probably find other jobs with sirius

Am I the only one who hopes they stay with SXM? I want 4 hours a day, 5 days a week of O&A for years to come. A podcast? Sure an hour long podcast a week sounds great? Yawn. Plus, I just know that if they leave, the podcast will never work because their heart won't be in it, even more so than some of you think their hearts aren't in it now. I have a feeling it will never get off the ground and they will all draft apart, Jimmy to stand up full time, maybe some acting gigs, Anthony will be rich and fart around and Opie will try and do his own shit. I don't want this, I want O&A+J. They are radio royalty. After Stern, they have to be the most well known entertainment talk show since the early 2000s. Personally I think the show is entertaining as all hell and has been for a while. Whether SXM is shitty or not, it is the best place for them. They owe it to themselves to stay at least until Stern leaves. If nothing changes then, then maybe hang 'em up and go their separate ways. However, I find the show to be too good currently for that to happen and if it does it will be a mistake.

They are the only reason I still pay for an XM subscription, in the age of free internet radio.

Kenny is a sirius xm employee. If they end up doing a podcast I doubt any of the staff will join them. That said, if O+A+J want to make comparable money to what they are making now then they will not be going the podcast route.

This isn't a popular opinion but I think it might be time to return to terrestrial. The Stern hangover is over with and their only competition would be zoo crews and sports talk shows.

Never going to happen. They cannot do what they do on terrestrial. Jimmy would be useless, ant couldn't rant, it would be the opie show. And we've all heard those tapes.

FWIW both Stern and Bubba's (yeah I know) shows were better on terrestrial. Never heard O&A before Sirius/XM

Kenny is definitely an xm employee... I remember an intern was in the studio and said that Kenny was sleeping, he barged right in and adamantly denied ever sleeping on the job.

But I'm pretty god dam sure that fucker was sleeping.

No, almost certain he's an independent contractor, likely paid in various proportions by SXM and members of the show.

I meant that while he's Jimmy's bodyguard on the road and all-around errand boy for Jim, Ant, and Opie he is also an employee of SXM. Didn't he take over for Master Po? I could have sworn I remember one them saying how they got CSK the job.

Yeah, I think that's how it works. The show gets a stipend for security, and Kenny invoices them for what he did throughout the day. I'm pretty sure I remember him saying that he worked for himself.

With all of the other stuff they want to do with the show that management doesn't pick up (tours/festivals/live events), they could make satellite cash. It's a different business model than just sitting down and talking, but they'd be at the top of the money chain.

They're the show to do it, too. I don't think Carolla could pull together a Traveling Virus tour.

You're extremely delusional if you think podcasting could bring them anywhere near the current salaries, and that is including just the 3 of them and none of the staff.

It's not about podcasting — podcasting is a promotional tool for other ventures.

The outlets for their show alone are limited. They can't take the show terrestrial. Not enough money in podcasting alone, I agree.

They're going to have to spread their wings creatively, or they'll languish on satellite as the wider internet takes over and SXM does nothing to adapt.

Telling management to make something work is apt different than them doing it themselves. Also if these events were such huge money makers sirius would have been on it long ago.
