Haha try to have a conversation on r/JoeRogan....I actually was told that I should hate the show because I stock shelves and listening to podcasts makes my job tolerable. The redditor replied to my statement of how happy the show makes me with something along the lines of "you should hate anything that makes your shitty meaningless job tolerable"....
Hey now. The boys clearly love working for SiriusMX. They love Sabean and his dedication to get them what they need. They're thrilled Ron & Fez have hopped over to a new channel that has more potential listeners than the O & A channel.
With all this love they've been working extra hard to give us the greatest radio show known to man. The problem lately is clearly with us listeners.
Yeah, they really didn't talk about anything that intersting today. Times like these are just when I keep it on in the background while focusing on Max Payne 3
Right, so all the truck drivers and people on their morning commutes can watch along. A visual element wouldn't supplement the radio portion, it would only make it unlistenable for those not watching along.
It's now been 10 years I've listened and it's weird to say that. I will say the only problem I have with the show is how much they now bring us into their backroom relations. That has been a thing since I've been listening, but it can last 50% of a day's show now pretty easily. You can almost hear Anthony cringing when he knows he has to play along and the next 40 minutes just instantly got sunk because O worked himself up over something.
Sometimes I think they do it as a protest, to say instead of doing our show as usual, we're just going to trash the executives on their own airwaves to show them who's boss. And then we end up losing an hour of good radio, the executives don't seem to give a shit at all, and it doesn't do much for O&A's sanity anyways.
All in all I still laugh hysterically and time FLIES by when I listen to them. I've taken years off at a time, come back, and feel right back at home right away. They have not changed very much in all the changes that have occured in their lives, its actually pretty amazing.
I love the behind the scenes/interpersonal relations stuff. I like when they are angry and complaining. I'd rather hear that than another music break any day.
Of course there's going to be criticism from fans - the show isn't infallible or perfect. Just because people take issue with certain (typically minor) portions of the show doesn't mean they're not fans. Look, I don't fell like I bitch a ton, but there's absolutely aspects of the show that I'm not into. When someone else wants to voice that, they've got every right to - and it's more likely to occur with O&A fans than fans of, say, Justin Bieber (given that they made part of their reputation on honest discussion/criticism of things where warranted).
The show - or anything - wouldn't improve without critiquing; it's up to the people actually on the show to filter out the legitimate/valid criticism from the ridiculous (and I'm certainly not defending the latter - just stating they don't deserve to be grouped together).
O&A are my favorite radio show by far - probably my favorite entertainment program period - but it doesn't mean they do a perfect show. Bitching about any posts that aren't glowing praise is ridiculous, and really Wackbag-esque (at least in their glory days, when even pseudo-criticism would result in bans).
My issue isn't with people who critique the show, it's people who bring up things that obviously aren't going to change and that people have been complaining about for 10 years. It's not constructive criticism. It's just aimless whining.
All the liberal O&A fans who are fucking morally outraged that there is a conservative on the satellite radio could start there own sub and spare us the fucking endless threads on Ant's opinions on guns/race/taxes.
It's stupid to make a post about I don't like this thread or I don't like when people post (insert whatever here) just move on to a different thread or create a new one.
Well, at least they aren't talking politics as much anymore so you all can't complain about Ant's politics. OH HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE SAME OL RACE BAITINGPOLITICAL DISCUSSION
Wow, I guess because you wrote it in a retarded voice that invalidates all points of view you have a problem with. You're right, we should just circle jerk about the show and blow smoke up their asses rather than discussing it in any real way. What next, are you gonna call us all baby boys you insufferable faggot?
I'm not saying we should be like the Paltalk room, but every little thing Opie, Anthony, or Jimmy says is dissected and put under a microscope. Personally, for me, I'd enjoy sitting back and listening instead of rushing to my keyboard every time the hosts say something that I slightly disagree with.
No one HAS to complain or read complain threads. Some of us enjoy it because we're bitter black hearted misanthropes with no social graces. CAN'T WE HAVE THIS ONE THING???!!!
Right, so all the truck drivers and people on their morning commutes can watch along. A visual element wouldn't supplement the radio portion, it would only make it unlistenable for those not watching along.

I'm going to be downvoted to hell for saying this, but I like the show.

How ironic

I know exactly what I'm doing. Any time you preface a statement on reddit with "I will be downvoted for this" you always get upvotes. Always.
4 rumpumpumpum 2013-12-10
I knew you were going to be downvoted for saying that.

Yes, redditors don't like to know someone is self aware.

The show fosters a culture of complaint. It's not exactly Deepak Chopra.
2 Slippery_Slope_Guy 2013-12-10
Yea, Deepak Chopra is a hack.

Yes let's use this sub only to post Patrice videos and "OMG the neck beards hate cake stomp Opie!!" Threads.
These guys are great and they're infuriating at the same time and the infuriating parts are fun to complain about, life goes on.
