it's terrible, anthony is not interested and therefore hardly participates, opie obviously knows the bare minimum and is boring to listen to when he goes through the same recap of last night's Sports, nobody gives a shit it's garbage and the show immediately improves when the subject matter is diverted from Sports

im a huge sports fan and when i hear them talk about it, it reminds me of hearing girls talk about sports.

I mean... they're not huge sports guys, but by and large they don't act like they are, either - it's not like they're doing sabermetric analysis or anything. They're going with the casual fan approach, which is what the significant majority of listeners are going to look for.

These are the same guys that will be incensed when the red carpet isn't rolled out for them to attend the super bowl. Listen to last year's show the day after the super bowl they spent 2 minutes discussing the game, and the next 58 discussing the half time show.

Think about how many times have they mocked sports radio. A lot of you must be bigger fans than me, why would you ever think they would do sports talk more than half-assed? Jimmy does a character where he talks sports, it's hilarious, because he sounds just like those guys, but he isn't saying anything intelligent. If you are on 4 hours a day, sometimes you mention some sports, what a trivial thing to complain about.

Opie's sports talk is sort of like Anthony's race talk. Opie hardly pays attention, and Anthony obviously knows the bare minimum and is boring to listen too and the way he goes through the same recaps (zimmerman, knockout game, guns) it gets old. Nobody gives a shit and the show immediately improves right after they move on to something else.
