I'm 20 minutes in but do they ever explain the reasoning for the move? I get the excitement of a new audience and all that, but was this due to the static between the shows lately? I don't really understand.
This seems the most reasonable answer. Now the real speculation is who will replace them. I think they might move Covino and Rich to the Virus if management is driving this, or a Sam + ??? if O&A are pulling the strings.
From everything I've heard your explanation is totally wrong. Management is too clueless to know that Fez really isn't recoverable as the cohost anymore(they still see it as the R&F brand) or that the show is 'going down the drain,' Ron was given a new opportunity to develop another channel since O&A are moving to afternoons and that's probably out of their control, Ron believed management because they just kept saying yes to everything he was bringing up about wanting to do, Fez was probably gonna be bumped down to a lesser production spot but opted for the crazy evaluation deal. Ron's unmaskeds already play on rawdog and they already have a few standup channels so they're okay with trying to develop the station, Ron was the one interested in ditching on-air Fez with an ultimatum but not getting him fired, and has always been interested in comedians since he owned his club, he has an idea that sirius will actually deliver regular live events with comedians, we'll see if it's true.
Agreed, Ron is getting more creative control on that channel to possibly develop more that just the one singular show he does now plus the unmasked. This might be a bump up for Ron, and a way to let Fez down easy without just agreeing to fire him.
I have a sneaking suspicion that this was Ronnie's attempt to placate the already unstable Fez Whatley to keep him from killing himself. Ron already mentioned the fact that the real drama was after the meltdown show, I could only imagine what a crying, blubbering mess Fezzy was. I just feel bad for Ron being in such a fucked up situation.

So is this a confirmation that ol' Ope and Ant are moving to afternoons?
Why else move Ron and Fez off of the Opie Anthony channel if there were no other show changes?

R&F are a mid-day show, not afternoon.

I thought Opie already confirmed on Twitter that moving to afternoons was a done deal.

It hasn't been the Virus in quite some time.
