i dunno if this is sarcastic or not, im too drunk at the moment, but let me just say this... and I think it's something to consider. Without Opie, there is no Anthony. and I don't mean literally that without opie, ant would be knocking tin, Opie allows everyone to be funnier around him, which is noble. I know I'd like the spotlight if I were in his position, and in allowing Ant, to be Ant... he allows Jimmy to be Jimmy... andd im not naive enough to think that the Opester tries to get a line in her or there, sometimes yea it sucks, sometimes its pretty fucking funny,,,

and even though I agree, somewhat that opie did steer the ship (nowadays not so much) thats not the point. without opie, there is no anthony, there is no chip, or uncle paul or fucking cregg schinkle...no im not giving him too much credit, someone has to be the straight guy, the guy that isnt quite as funny, for everyone to spin off of. A lot of the pot talk mondays were opies thoughts expanded upon by ant and jim, as well as countless other breaks that at surface value don't have anything to do with opie, but really, have everything to do with opie

I think the Opster has been great for the last few years. Aside from kidchat2.0, he's way more laid-back and constructive in discussions than previously. But I will give you that mid-2000s shows are near-unlistenable because of his constant need for recognition. During that period, he acted as the big, greasy hand on the brake lever during an Ant-Jim-comedian riff session more times than is countable with human numerals.

Opie isn't the funniest guy in the world, but he brings an everyman quality to the show. Makes me think that's how I'd be in the studio, trying to keep up with ridiculously funny people.

What exactly is the purpose of the endless discussion about the value of opie... ? It's all been said at this point. It seems redundant to keep pontificating as to if the show would've somehow been better minus the sole person responsible for its existance.

It's not witty, it's not intelligent and it's an easy target...

But it's one of 'The Destroyer's finest moments.

This along with has-been corner have been Opie's few bright spots. But they were terrifically cringe-worthy.

I personally wouldn't go that far on the mid-2000s shows, but Opie definitely has mellowed. I always liked him/his contributions, but I find myself liking this version of him even more.
