DeRosa moving to LA
16 2013-10-20 by [deleted]
DeRosa was on Red Eye tonight and mentioned that he is moving to Los Angeles to be a writer on that Pete Holmes show that's on after Conan on TBS. So he probably won't be on the show until that thing gets cancelled in a week. That's good for all of us.
Shockingly, he killed it on Red Eye tonight. WAY better than his last appearance.

.....holy shit you're right. I think that still beats out Black Phillips Show for greatest weekend programming in the history of High Voltage / Virus / O&A Channel. The title, content, hosts, guests and the concept was just perfect for a once a week show. Still in search for some of the lost podcasts that were only available on their myspace for 6 months back in 2010. Fuck G-cast!

I have a playlist of the 10 or so shows they did. Listened to them all through at least 5 times

Really? You don't know the reference?

I read this in the twitter voice.

Gotcha.

I always feel like DeRosa and Bob Kelly are trying too hard, either to 'Smash' one of the other guys or to be the 'thinker' of the room. Obviously they're both successful comics, etc. But it always feels like they're forcing a reference out rather than waiting for a good line. They feel like less witty versions of Colin Quinn, who is a genius.
Obviously my opinion means shit and I have no skills, I'm just adding to the convo with my thoughts for the fuck of it, Because I live in Australia and have no one else to talk about this stuff with.
I'm so alone.

Has LA better tattoo parlors than NY?
1 cados 2013-10-20
To answer your question literally, possibly yeah. Many people go to SoCal in hopes of finding success in the entertainment industry. There are many movie and game production studios and great figure drawing schools in the area. So really strong artists live there. There is a larger chance of finding better tattoo artists/parlors in LA than NYC.

Thank god. He sucks.
1 VampireVendetta 2013-10-20
can he take bobo, patty and falcone with him? that would make the show way better.

This sucks for the show. All the old comedians that were regulars no longer come on. Patrice is dead, Burr is in LA, Louis CK is way to famous, Bob Kelly had a kid, Pat Cooper retired... thankfully we still got Quinn, and hopefully Vos starts becoming a regular again. I know he's been touring a lot lately. Now Derosa is leaving. They need to get Ari Shaffir and chris destefano on the show more.

Yeah, the roster's gotten pretty thin over the past couple years, though Joe Soder had a good appearance a couple weeks back.
5 TheOtherMLK 2013-10-20
It's Dan Soder. I'm only correcting you because I agree. He's great. Hope to hear more from him.

Good luck, Joe, on your livelihood. Love ya, Miss ya.

Joe DeRosa is 50x funnier than Pete Holmes.

Couldn't agree more. That "Ray Romano Sings the Hits" bit of his that they played was fucking queer.

It's a paid gig and a writing credit. How is that a "bad investment"? You think his bi-monthly o + a appearances and failed web series are too precious to leave behind?

Him and Burr are really close. I'm sure Burr convinced him to do it, and maybe Burr will bring him around and help him get some west coast exposure. I've met Joe years ago at XM and he was very nice to me. I live in Sd and can't wait to see him out here.

The Rose is one of my favorites on O@A but i wouldn't get him to write a joke.Looks like the Pete Holmes show is going to be a disaster.
0 alittlebigger 2013-10-20
Thank god, I cut the show off every-time he's in because two hours of music before I was born talk starts
0 KR1288 2013-10-20
the show looks terrible
-1 PanzerSmanzer 2013-10-20
I always thought he was better on Red Eye than on ONA. GLB, HOORAY!
-3 CUNTYMOM 2013-10-20
derosa is funny as shit, you will all realize this when he isnt on for a year.
8 Grymreaper 2013-10-20
We all hope it's longer than that.
5 Chip--Chipperson 2013-10-20
Whatever, DeRosa
1 Holzmann 2013-10-20
I have to agree with you here. Joey Roses gets no respect, but he's great in studio and will be sorely missed as a regular.
