Needs something to read while on the toilet? Here's Artie Lange's new interview with Rolling Stone. Will be on O&A to promote the new book because it's obvious Howard wants nothing to do with him.

This is a great read and amazing news. I've always wanted him on the show and I know him and jimmy have been close for a long time. The interview he did with jimmy and a few other comedians on raw dog was really good.

I was a big fan of stern in the late 90's (I was only 12 and it blew my mind and introduced to me to comedians and references well before my time that I am still grateful for) and when Artie joined the show it kept me listening when Howard started to lose his edge. Artie was always a very funny and real guy. His suicide attempt and leaving the show was the final death of the stern show in my eyes. Fred is the only true talent left.

I'm in recovery right now as an addict and alcoholic and the two sides of a coin that are jimmy and Artie have always been an inspiration to me. I can't wait for this interview and to read his book. "Too fat to fish" was a hilarious, tragic tale that takes a really honest look at the darkness behind a comedian.

Would be great if he is on the show, his honesty about his drug addiction can be hard to listen to.It makes a change from Jimmys tales of his two week addiction to Bud Light though.

It was really bad though man. He yelled at some friends and stuff during one of the three times he got drunk in his life

but bro, he felt like he was gunna do something bad though.

It doesn't mention he will be on O&A anywhere. I was a fan of the artie satellite years of Howard because he injected some working class dirty comic sensibility between Howards rants about his palatial apartment and time in the Hamptons. The show died when he left.

It certainly did. My eyes really opened as how Stern had changed when he started fellating Michael Moore on the air about that hack movie F9/11. And then when Artie left... that was the nail in the coffin, especially since I had already been listening to old O&A shows that were streaming on a unnamed website.

Your source says nothing about OnA

I noticed that as well, but considering Jackie has been on the show and Gary Dell'Abate was interviewed by Norton on his show it's not totally out of the question.

It was.. It's like world's colliding.. as a (former) stern fan and current O&A fan it was nice to see members of both tribes talking shop.

OP's title is misleading. It really doesn't seem like they have a bad relationship at all. From the interview:

Are you going to go back on Howard to promote the book? I don't know. I haven't set foot in there. Howard is afraid he's gonna say the wrong thing and set me off. He's like, "God forbid something happens." What happened was real intense. The times I've talked to him, he's been real supportive. He's happy for me that I'm back on track and doing better, but actually being on the show . . . He's afraid something might happen. I'm not saying it won't happen. Gary [Dell'Abate] has the book. He's reading the book . . . Look, if he does, he does. I'm not going to put any pressure on him because the guy has done everything for me, and he's just been amazing. But if he feels it's too intense and too risky to do it, that's gonna be his decision. And that's fine. I told the book company not to press him at all.

I think he got freaked out. He didn't how bad you were and he believed all your lies, and then he saw the truth and it shattered him. Right. He was like, "You need professional help." And he was right, of course. And I was working there when it happened. He's thinking, "What if he goes back and something triggers something?"

He said recently on the show that you saw him at the hospital when you both visited Robin at the same time. Yeah. I saw him there. We talked for an hour. And it was just me, him and Robin for a while. We laughed like old times, like we were on the air. It was the day after Robin's big operation and she was in great spirits. She looked great. I told her she was just so confident and she really is such a strong person. But we were goofing around with her like everything was fine. We laughed like crazy.

At the end, he gave me a big hug and he said, "Congrats on the show." I said "Thanks" and "I'll talk to you soon" or whatever. And then I gave him a big hug. That was it, and I talked to Robin for an hour after that. I sat with her, and if she was scared about what was going to happen, she didn't let me see. It seems like she got through it, which is great.

Stern might just be acting like he doesn't want Artie back to build up listernership. If Artie returns it is going to be one of the most listened to shows in Stern's history.

Please stop editorializing your titles because you are lonely driving your rig, Lady Trucker.

hes such a liar, how could you not understand how fucked up artie was, if you knew anything about drugs it was clear he was fucked up nodding off on the show.

I look forward to the day you can no longer afford your AZT.

Deep one, been listening to Dr Steve a lot lately, Lady Trucker?

How long do you people shit for?!

Looking forward to his second book his first one was a good read.

I still have that mocking "haha, O, and, A" rattling around in my head that artie said a few years back, it's not like he bashed them but by saying that he validated hoo hoo, just don't say anything.

That was a great interview, finally a plausible answer to what happened between him and Nick (although I'm sure there's way more to it)... And don't get your hopes up too much, I know Jimmy once said that Artie might do the show to promote his book, but there's a reason why that interview with the Anti-Social comics was on Raw Dog and not on O&A. There are still too many comics who won't do O&A because of their affiliation with Howard. Get over it already. They got Louis CK and Amy Schumer, now we want Gilbert Gottfried and Artie in return.

What do you mean "they got Louis"? He still does the show. Just not as much now because he's probably busy filming his award winning TV show, writing another hour of standup and taking care of two daughters.

I know. I was trying to say that there's no problem when the O&A regulars do Howard, so more Howard affiliates should feel free to do O&A.

Oh. Well that's because Howard is a little bitch and tells guests they can't go on if they do O&A. I bet the fact that Louis goes on O&A regularly (or used to) is partly why he's done howard so few times.

Some pests could really have a field day pranking the poor man with this:

It's lunchtime, and Artie Lange is feeling hungry. He picks up the phone in his sleek Hoboken, New Jersey, apartment, gazing out over his ridiculous, postcard-worthy view of Manhattan. "Hey, it's Artie," he says. "Can you send over a large pie with extra cheese? Thanks." No last name, no address. Minutes later, the pizza arrives. They don't even charge him since he's mentioned the place (Uptown Pizza) on the radio so many times, but he still makes sure the delivery guy gets a $20 bill.

Yeah but Artie Lange is cool, why fuck with him?

I'm not condoning it... Just bringing up the fact that people "not getting the bit" may jump at something as dumb as this

Artie will just assume he ordered it and eat it.
