Jim might have rubbed him the wrong way on Tough Crowd doing his whole Yyyyucckk, he's a liberal douche thing but I might be making that up
In general, the alternative (a special thing records) and cringe circles don't associate with each other, except for Louie, and he associates with O&A once a year now
Patton I would say is alternative for the most part and he was on. But yeah I think the Comedy Cellar crew would make a lot of these alternative comics quit before they started. Not saying there's anything wrong with the alt comedy scene.
I know it's foreign to us, but there are just people who don't get The Opie & Anthony Show.
Honestly though, is David Cross a huge "loss" to our community? No. Will an O&A/David Cross feud get any attention? Maybe to some comedy nerds, but for the most part no.
I totally agree with OMGWTFBBQFTWRIP, the Cringe Circle and the Alt circle just don't mesh well. We appreciate Alphas goofing on themselves and everyone around them brutally. Bitter Beards in ironic clothing with a notebook...eh, not so much.
Except "Alt. Comic Vos", he's going to to the top with that shit...
In the grand scheme of things, comedy is so small and such a shitty business that there really shouldn't be so much in-fighting. Every pro comic should just laugh with their peers that they fooled the masses into supporting them financially.
They don't mesh well, because the alt circle doesn't acknowledge that they are doing cringe. As with most hipster/alt circles, they like to pretend that they are doing something that they are not.
Good point! Patrice ruined that hipster-style of comedy with his "...this ain't supposed to be funny, but you can laugh if you want, but I don't care..." (horribly paraphrased) rant. I've been an open mic'er in a small southern town for years, and it seemed that all the Dane rip-offs just turned into THAT comic, and now proceed to bash Dane.
...I'm just saying, it wasn't just me in college responsible for "Retaliation" quotes every 20 seconds.
Well David Cross has a looooong history of writing things off with passive anger before giving said things(or people) an actual chance. It doesn't fit his boundaries of taste, plus the show is friends with people he hates(Jim Breuer, Ron White). Bob Odenkirk was on, had a good time. And David worked with him for years. So who knows. Maybe he's just being a cunt?
Yeah, that sounds plausible to me. Cross is a genius as a comedy actor, but his actual comedy just doesn't do anything for me. He is a little arrogant and lecture-y for my tastes. So I can imagine Cross not being able to deal maturely with people that don't fit his tastes.

Eeewwwww... how smugly cringy.

Yeah, it is very cringeworthy.
I've enjoyed him as a comedic actor but I've never enjoyed his stand up. He doesn't so much write jokes as much as he panders for applause.

I don't have much of an opinion on this, but this line by /u/RECTANGULAR_BALLSACK cracked me up:

Wasn't this posted earlier?

I don't see it listed anywhere on this subreddit, my apologizes if it's already been posted.

it got posted but i think it got deleted because people didn't agree with OP (not opie)

Haha, I feel dumb but I never made the connection that OP sounds like Opie, what a fag.

It doesn't sound like he has any problem with them at all. He even said they could be great guys.

David Cross is a pseudo-intellectua bleeding heart liberal, how could he be a fan of Opie & Anthony? Fuck him and his notebook.
