Doug Stanhope on Jake LaMotta

For those who don't follow standup, Doug Stanhope recently released his new special on Netflix entitled "Beer Hall Putsch". What's interesting about this is the 5 to ten minute chunk he has in the middle of it describing his own experience with Jake LaMotta. He goes into him being half-aware of where he is, repeating the same Sugar Ray diabetes joke 4 or 5 times, and his wife carting him around for her own benefit.

It added another level to the cringe of today's interview.
I tried finding the clip, but it only came out about 2 weeks ago so nothings up yet unless you have a Netflix account.

Thank you, dude. God damn that was funny, Doug Stanhope has got to be one of the best living comedians. I still haven't heard the LaMotta interview, so this'll be good...or awful.

I almost didn't make it through that interview today.

Thanks so much for the heads up on Stanhope's new special, I just watched it and it was fuckin great. I love his brutally honesty, logic and intelligence.

The LaMotta bit was very funny, too, and def does give new perspective to today's interview. It goes on for a few mins too, so kudos to you for not spoiling it.

I liked the interview. It actually kept me on my toes, waiting to hear the diabetes joke one more time. Notice Jimmy omitting the "Sugar" part of his name after the third time I think.

Tsss, I bet dat Jake Lamotta has shawfront propuhty on Lake Jamotta uh sumptin!

Not trying to compare apples to oranges but it attests to Ronnie B's interviewing skills how he was able to get a fairly intelligible/respectful interview out of Jake while although funny it was a train wreck on O&A...

Who gives a fuck if his old lady is making some dough,it gets the old bloke out of the house.

The guy is 92 and obviously not mentally with it. I guess if you consider the trade off, he had a hot younger trophy wife for his last few years of sanity and now he has a permanent nurse.
