What is your opinion on Tom Papa?

He's good on the show as long as he doesn't laugh or talk

He's a funny guy. Just not when he's on the show. Or on television. Or doing standup. Or in his personal life.

I've never really liked him on the show. He acts more like a crowd, just laughing at the jokes. I watched his stand up on Netflix and holy shit I wasn't expecting him to be that funny. I get the feeling he's just uncomfortable on the show. He's more of a sniper rifle while Jimmy and Ant are machine guns, as are most of the comedians they bring in.

Funny how, then? Like a clown? He's there to amuse you? How is he funny?

He's unfunny but he doesn't take over the show so doesn't bother me.

Tss what about Tom Mama or sumthin

Fuckin' home run!

Dad jokes

His ties to the Seinfeld Mafia are all thats keeping him around.

NICE TRY TOM.

I am a big fan, not my FAVORITE in studio guest, but his stand-up is pretty funny. I think the problem is that he does a lot of family material and it can derail the show at times but overall, pretty funny.

Well he's my uncle and I'd possibly get him to come around these parts for an AMA if anyone was interested

I'm up for it.

reddit would probably like it. that liberace thing got him some good exposure

yeah after seeing these comments and the weekly "I hate Tom Papa" threads (lol) I'd rather refer him to /r/Iama or something

I couldn't stand him at first, seemed like he tried too hard. But I liked his last few appearances, he's good in conversation.

He stinks.

He is a wonderful man.

His live shows on come to papa are unbelievably fantastic. It's like prairie home companion for 2013 with mega stars and brutal humor. Don't buy into the meatheads claiming he isn't "shock" enough. The show is astounding. The andy rooney segments are wonderful.

Oh great this thread again.

The boys are a haven for comedians as they are great with plugs and filling seats. I think the only guys that don't get asked back are dicks. Tom adds a more mature perspective to the comics the have on and he's webbed in good with some successful comics like Jerry, so he provides a perspective folks like Burr or Bobby can't.

love Tom Papa.

He should talk to Ant's hair follicle transplant people.

Ant should talk to Ant's hair follicle transplant people.

I liked it.

Nice guy but I don't find him all that funny.

When he is on, I change the channel. He's not funny, he laughs at everything, and has the most annoying laugh in the world.

he knows Seinfeld so it's ok.

On a scale of 1 to DeRosa, how annoying?

He reminds me of every theater jizz bag that thought because they could act, they could tell jokes. We should take solace in the fact that he's as big as he'll ever be as a stand-up alone right now.

he's terrible, I tune out when he's on

Nothing really stands out about him. At least all the other regulars have somewhat interesting personalities. Tom Papa is as about as bland and mediocre as they come.

he is the Antipatrice.

goddamn rich cunt! Hes eh, whatever, Hes that type of friend of the show who just provides a different scenery, and helps out whenever they ask him too.

He's tolerable, just on too much. That's mostly because Patrice is dead, and guys like Louis and Burr are too busy and in LA to do the show as frequently. They need regular comics. That's why de rosa is on so much, I can't stand that fucker tho

He seems like a great guy, is funny in his own way. Just doesn't seem to fit in with the show.

Im Morgan Freeman

I feel like he brings down the mood of the show every time he's on. It's like its a completely different show!

I get kinda mad when people talk shit about Joe DeRosa but then I realize that they think of him how I think of Tom Papa: an unfunny, annoying little twat.

He'd suck Ant's dick if it meant a regular spot on the show.

He grew on me, but that laughter of his is annoying and phony. On Inside Amy Schumer he laughs exactly the same, and he's acting there. Maybe he's just a great actor... His stand-up and podcast are surprisingly good however. There's an episode with Dave Attell, who never disappoints anyway, but I never heard him talk like that and be so comfortable on the radio before.

Better than Joe DeRosa.

Eh he's alright, doesn't shove himself in or anything, it's like two Opies

I don't mind the cunt.Although one appearance he pissed me off, i remember he was obsessed with The Rocky Horror Picture Show theme and he must have sung parts of it 40 or 50 times during the show in a high pitch whine,Ant was ready to knock the cunt out.

Say cunt again

Do they speak English in cunt?

I double guns you motha hucka!

(booo)

I'm so embarrassed I cobbled all those random references into one post.

That's my only real problem, the singing. Sure I'd like it if he was funny once in a while, who wouldn't? But if he cut out the whiny singing he'd at least be tolerable. The laughing doesn't really bother me. Even when you can tell it's phony, it doesn't produce 1/10th the visceral hatred that the singing does.

And he always sings callbacks from 3 hours ago. And sings them over and over and over. Someone says something in a normal voice at 7:15 and he sings it every 4 minutes until 9:56.
