Opiegate could be the best thing that's ever happened to the show..

With Howard working part time and Sirius looking to fill the void (if they were smart), this could be the best thing to happen to the show.
The outrage this has caused is definitely going to lead to an increase in subscribers to O&A. And the boys can use this as an example of why letting them off of the leash could be huge for both the show and the company. These videos are years old...imagine if both of these were made last week.
I know Sirius' management is pretty much retarded, but Howard's absence from working regularly is eventually going to lead to a subscriber exodus. Anything they can do to soften the blow, especially O&A being in the news for outrageous stuff like this on a regular, is going to help the company. Outrage is a major, and probably most fool proof tool to use in the media. Howard, Rush Limbaugh, South Park and even the Simpsons have used it to gain mass appeal. If they let the boys do what they want, it will lead to more subscribers and bigger numbers for the show (The Opster will once again put up some numbers).
Probably won't happen...because it's the logical thing to do. But if there anyone for O&A to convince Sirius, it's right now. Hopefully this plays out that way. Troy keeping his job shows that management has been lightening up, even if it's only slightly.

But he jumped on a cake, why isn't someone doing something about this?

not just any cake...a homeless person's expired cake that was discovered in a dumpster

And don't forget, that cake represented his entire dignity as a human being...

It's quite possible that his estranged, cancer-ridden, dying in a hospital somewhere, mother gave him that cake after seeing each other for the first time in 30 years.

Why is the true victim of this atrocity not even being talked about. Why is no one looking for answers on why this poor cake was allowed to be struck down on camera on the streets of New York with no trying to help it.

Cakey Genovese or sumthin tss...
Cue the car crash.

No no no sir.
The homeless guy said he earned it. And the first rule of Reddit is, "if someone says something it must be true". So obviously the guy worked for the cake.

But he earned that dumpster cake!

Ugh....

and like they were saying not long ago howard is trying to be more family friendly, this really could be huge for o&a but i doubt anything will come from it

Sterns contract is up in 2015, liberty media(they bought Sxm ) are really tight with a buck, I don't see them paying big dollars for a part timer. Sxm needs more good talk entertainment , and live entertainment. That's huge , it's got be live. Podcasts are great , but having live radio during your day talking about current shit , can't be replaced by a podcast.

There's no way he is resigning. It was pretty evident abou a year when he resigned last time and that house in Florida seals the deal.

I gotta disagree , I think he wants TV stardom, like a nighttime talk show host . Have you heard or seen his interviews lately , he wants to be Larry King or Leno . And he will have some lame excuse about leaving , like his lawsuit etc.

Oh yeah I agree withy that, his radio show is over and he's trying to seem tv friendly, his radio interviews are the worst though, it's the same 5 people and he asks them the same questions
It's the same shit over and over and over. But yeah he definitely wants the late night show or something

I think you're in the thick of it too much and your bias from them is clouding concrete data. It sounds like you're just repeating what they've said on air like a parrot instead of applying any sort of critical thinking.
O&A will never be as well branded as Stern. They're simply too different of shows to to even compare, I feel. O&A appeal to a niche audience that likes more taboo/gallows humor and honest talk rather than something that seems produced and ready for mass consumption.
And I prefer this. I don't want them to get as big as a Stern. I think it will dilute the product.
They are a smart show and appeal to an audience that doesn't want to be treated like idiots.
While the talent of the show might want more time in the mainstream spotlight for the obvious reasons of demanding more pay, I think that when it comes to a listener perspective, the show is perfect where it is.

From listening to the shows over the years, and the complaints, it really seems like one of the major troubles with O+A is their shitty agent representation. They need to let go of the dead wood and get with a bigger name that is fit to handle talent like they have. It seems they are at a 'fuck it' period of the show, but with some actual support in getting things done, I'm sure it would boost their results in the things they want out of the show.
It reminds me of SNL vs. MadTv. Both have had some great sketches, but both had a lot of shit. However, SNL is constantly lauded in the face of so much terrible output, and MadTv was just a bastard show on a network that really didn't seem to give a fuck about them - although several great talents were on there (Bobby Lee for example).

Bob Eatman is one of the biggest agents in radio. He just doesn't have much leverage anymore because there's literally no competition in the radio industry. Three companies own the majority of all the radio stations in America.
0 WiretapStudios 2013-08-13
I know who their agent is, but his poorly and unprofessionally designed webpage alone tells me he is not capable of handling talent at that level. Now, take a look at Howards agents webpage: http://www.buchwald.com/
Notice how it is professional, and there are tons of famous people on the front? It's because it's what they do. They are talent / artist multi-media management, not radio management. Like I said, dead wood.

Don't kid yourself.. This has barely led to an increase of subscribers to this subreddit, and that doesn't cost anything.

Remember when Howard was rumored to be on American Idol and Ellen DeGeneres had a fit? It's like, since then, he's been on his best behavior to prove that he's not what people think he is.
