Why does Opie say "worsh" instead of wash?

He also pronounces "very" (and other -ery and -ary words) as vurry, blueburries etc. Just how he talks, but probably also being self-referential and mocking himself.

Its a southern thing. As in people from the south say funny things and he picked up on it.
