All of those comedians...Ant still makes me laugh the most.

Anthony is honestly the reason I got into the show; his impressions and off the cuff lines are fucking amazing. Like Dice said I think Ant could have easily done stand up comedy but I think his real talent is radio.
15 zenlogick 2013-07-25
hes got the perfect personality for radio or show hosting of any kind. but if you put him on a stage with a mic he would be a shit sandwich. i disagree with dice on that one.
can you imagine his act? it would be all shitting on black people and talking about guns.
but on that same angle dice would be a shit radio personality. hes great in small bursts but i couldnt listen to dice everyday.
ants more of an entertainer than he is a comedian. and dont get me wrong hes a damn fucking good one.

Perfect face for it too.
10 zenlogick 2013-07-25
I think he himself admits that he developed his sense of humor as a way of getting layed when he knew his features werent gonna cut it. Thank god that hes such an ugly guinea fuck, for the rest of us.
You notice alot of comedians/professional funny people dont tend to be the most attractive people (Thinks about ol' slope-shouldered Joe)
3 ElPatreeecko 2013-07-25
I know this but I'm still going to make fun of him on the internet for it, because make no bones about it... he is one ugly gent.

There will always be anomalies. Amy, Giraldo, DiPaolo, Christina P, Natasha Leggero, Joe Rogan. etc.

He wasn't always as funny as he is now. If you followed the show, he used to just drunkenly mention cocks and vaginas for shock. It was when Jimmy came in and started killing with that speed that Ant started emulating that. Not to take anything away from him...it takes a rare talent to even copy something like timing.
7 pbpble 2013-07-25
So basically a white def comedy jam? That sounds awesome.
6 Slippery_Slope_Guy 2013-07-25
So he would be Nick Dipaolo?
5 zenlogick 2013-07-25
Nicks dorky pimple faced younger brother who was into science kits and cried when his drum set moved an inch.
2 JerryShepardini 2013-07-25
Yeah I agree, but there is some funny stuff he could talk about with his past, his divorces, his father etc...But you're right I don't think he'd be as profound as Louis or Bill
3 1Hominid 2013-07-25
Ditto for me too. If there was no Ant I wouldn't tune in at all. Not that I don't like any of the other guys but Ant is a fucking genius.
2 hovanova 2013-07-25
While I mostly agree, I would pay twice the subscription just for Jimmy alone.
2 Slippery_Slope_Guy 2013-07-25
Yea, I couldn't really see Ant on stage doing a stand up act, but I'm sure he could pull it off. Radio is perfect for him with his quickness and large catalog of general knowledge.
When I started listening I rediscovered Jimmy Norton and his many faces, but Ant was the reason I became a devoted daily listener.

Ant rules. Jimmy was quick as fuck this morning too. When did Opie turn into the hole, ie his use of "Jesus".
10 ig0tworms 2013-07-25
That's probably why it's opieradio not opiecomedy. But let's face it as much as some of the obsessed fans bitch, on a regular basis the show needs all 3 of these guys to make it great.

The show does have a "runaway train" feel to it when the Opester isn't there. At the same time, I find myself changing the channel when he just talks over people with his "holdonholdonholdON" inane, run-on commentary about himself.
13 [deleted] 2013-07-25
Completely, when the show reaches it's 3rd hour of nothing but discussing the liberal media/Islam/Political correctness with A & J you see how important the Opester is
-5 opiesucks 2013-07-25
nah, he sucks.
3 bigtonyy 2013-07-25
Give it a god damned rest.
We fucking get it.
2 mhm28 2013-07-25
I agree. I do like Opie to an extent. He's been cutting back on the verbal steamrollering. There was a point I had to tap out for a bit. But I've been noticing if some says something that's out there, he'll follow it up with a "Jesus", kind of like a hole would do.

nah, just 2.

I believe Jay Mohr said it on his podcast: Ant could have been a comedian if he didn't go into tin knocking and Opie is just a straight-up radio guy. Ant brings the humor and Opie captains the ship.
7 PhilipeNegro 2013-07-25
Ant's performance was fantastic today.
I also believe there's an aspect of security at play, compared to the touring comics competing with each other. His name is on the wall, and he indulges himself. But if any of the comics had to perform on air 4 hours/day for what, almost 20 years? They'd be just as sharp, I'm sure.
He's really the only guy out there that I don't know where the show ends for him.
3 mancubuss 2013-07-25
Also ant gets nervous in situations like this so he just keeps talking(and is Always saying funny things)
6 frankdive 2013-07-25
Aaalright
6 Teilhard_de_Chardin 2013-07-25
As much as I love Ant, I still think Jimmy is the funniest off-the-cuff guy on the planet.
4 Wobbly_Red_Snappa 2013-07-25
Ant got me into the show too. Hilarious
3 ReasonableGhost 2013-07-25
[Ant truly was rocking double guns today. But am I the only one that missed High Pitched Sam Roberts? I know people hate him but he is a great shit stirrer. He knows exactly how to work his own annoying angle into the mix. Though I could see how his personality as a random Nth mic wouldn't work in that setting.]
1 pbpble 2013-07-25
Luckily, we heard as much of Sam as we did Opie today.]
-1 ReasonableGhost 2013-07-25
[I can't wait for tomorrow's pre-show.]
5 egates09 2013-07-25
[stop talking in brackets]
0 ixcuincle 2013-07-25
He is okay, but I can't stand his cackle laugh.
3 Icculus1833 2013-07-25
Joe: so, she shows up 40 minutes late...
Ant: what was she 40 minutes late for, having her Parkinsons therapy?
3 powers55 2013-07-25
When Ant sticks to the funny, he can hang with anyone. Unfortunately, that often doesn't happen on a day to day basis.
2 xMoJo23x 2013-07-25
Its the interaction between Ant and Jimmy that does it for me. Their "inside" jokes and bombs are the best part of a Nopie show. Or any show, really.
3 bu77munch 2013-07-25
I love it when I catch a bomb that Ant just throws in their and no one else even hears. But you'll hear him repeat and no one cares. That is the shit I chuckle at.
2 bsjett 2013-07-25
You're right on! Ant and Jimmy are why I listen. Well, I discovered the show via old Louis CK appearances when I was just getting into Louis. I stayed for Ant and Jim. Opie has some good moments, but Anthony and Jimmy pull a laugh out of me every few minutes usually. Between Ant's ability to make weird references that nobody gets and Jimmy casually talking about the most bizarre sex acts...and don't even get me started on Ted Sheckler.
1 hovanova 2013-07-25
I would love to hear an only Ted show, then only Uncle Paul show, then only Chip show.
1 bsjett 2013-07-25
Jimmy said he can't really do Ted because it hurts his throat. =/
2 Skizz1979 2013-07-25
Ant isn't a comedian per say, but always lighting quick with funny references and his impressions are pretty good. Makes me loff and loff. Opie cracks out a gem now and then, but those times are becoming ever more rare. Jimmy, especially when he's angry Jimmy, is the best. His insults are not just funny but stinging, like to Joe Derosa yesterday "The drummer from Def Leppard has a better looking left arm than you do"
2 CarmaNot 2013-07-25
He totally ran everything.
I really liked him and John Mulaney. Mulaney's one of my favorite comedians and it was great to see him and Ant make each other laugh. I hope they have him back.
1 NastyDump 2013-07-25
Agreed
1 feelmikehawk 2013-07-25
yup
1 keemers 2013-07-25
It's funny reading this now after finding out that And did in fact do stand up this weekend in Montreal. Jim said he got laughs. I am sure it wasn't pure comedy gold but I think that with some effort he could be really, really good.
0 andrewsj1 2013-07-25
If people can't see that todays show demonstrates how Opie can't hang with the comics, they're insane.
13 CUNTYMOM 2013-07-25
ofcourse he cant hang with comics, hes a radio host. its unfair to think opie is going to be as funny as ant and jim, ant is an exception to the rule of radio hosts not being funny. howard was always surrounded by funny people or having Jackie write his jokes.
did you hear those two newer comics? they barley talked as much as opie, 75% of comics cant hang with OnA "shit on everything you do and say" style comics, that chris kid could barley get his first sentence out when they introduced him, that's how intimidating it is to be around those type of comics.
opie can never win with you people, he shut up, didn't interrupt, and let the comics do what they do, and its "opie cant hang" but if he tried throwing out jokes and interrupting people it would have been "opie wont shut the fuck up, hes not funny AAIIIDDDSSS", I mean you guys didn't hear how bobby was basically hosting the show and opie didn't try to talk over him.
4 TheVulgarian 2013-07-25
I agree completely but you spelled "barely" as "barley" twice... what ya makin' like fuckin' barley vegetable soup r sumtin tsss
4 waytogo17 2013-07-25
You are right on the money. Opie has more than proved himself hosting shows when Ant is not around, he is excellent at figuring out good radio and going with it. And he showed it today by staying out of everyone's way.
-2 andrewsj1 2013-07-25
So you're saying that he recognized that he sucks and kept his mouth shut. What a defense -___-. Honestly don't know why you all love him so much, he's unfunny, has been for a while, adds nothing to the show, and does the same stupid bits over and over.
