Im probably wrong, but i think maybe they were trying to figure out if someone was gay. They had the girl intern in and right after she left the studio they all cracked up and anthony said something about someone being a 'mo. Im guessing they had her in just so she could walk by and see if anyone checked her out.
They wanted to see if anyone outside of the hardcore fanbase ever listens, so they had Anthony go off on a racist tear that would get any other broadcaster in the proverbial "hot water" just to see if they'd get any complaints.

The word "awareness" was enough to tip Mr. Norden off to whatever it was. I couldn't tell though.

It was about people being aware they were being looked at. I'm sure it was how the girl interns act when they know they are being watched.
