"hate" is a pretty strong word, maintaining any sort of really close business relationship for this long is immensely taxing on any kind of friendship. If they really hated each other the show would have been over wayyyy before.

I think that the new contract, podcast and other stuff in the works makes for a better working relationship. I think once you (as a listener) get over the fact that O & A aren't best friends outside of the radio show that helps. They are two very different guys that look after a sweet lil boy named Jimmy.

I wonder if we'll ever hear the full story about when Opie stormed off the show and was absent for like 3 days. I know it was assumed that it had something to do with a fight over Ant's treatment at Opie's brother's restaurant, but I thought it would have been discussed openly by now.

And I agree that they they seem to be getting along better. Probably a lot to do with Ant not being hungover and grouchy in the mornings.

You realize you're probably a fan making a big deal out of something they've most likely completely forgotten about. I've had blow outs with friends, or family, and when the blowout is over and we've moved on rarely does the issue get brought back up again. Especially when they've been working together for 20 years. It was probably one of many blow outs between them.

When did Opie storm off the show? I've been listening to them for over 6 years, and I don't remember this at all.

A few months ago the show was opie-less for 3 or 4 days. He walked out before the show went live (and they went on late). The only mention was the following monday when he said "good morning. Anthony and I had a fight and Danny was fired..."

That's exactly what happened. I actually saw him at the supermarket near my house a few weeks ago but I didn't bother him.

the show is alot better when they are getting along better, everyones laughing at eachothers jokes, ant actually seems somewhat interested in opies kids stories, opie actually agreed with ant on ants race rant yesterday and didnt just clam up and wait ill he was done, and ever ant himself didnt seem so hate filled during his rant

A book is going to be great. I would read that shit in a heart beat. I have read both of Jimmy's books and I love when he refernces the show, even though they are few and far between.

Two would be better. The hilarious truth, written by Jim and Ant, and the self-deluded fictional version written by Opie.

I agree with part of that statement. 2 separate books would be sick. One by Ant and one by Ope. The differing views would be great to read. Even if sold together, in one book, like a half and half book. First half would be guns, gambling and sluts and the other would be babies and brothermans.

I have been meaning to post something like this. It such a more enjoyable show than a year ago. It sounds like they're both ACTUALLY having fun, not just doing it for the audience. Maybe they actually hashed through some stuff post Ant's blow up at Opie's brother's restaurant.

Either way, them getting along really brings up the quality of the show.

I think they've been to some sort of mediation or counseling together recently.

know what? i hope they dont. opie could find people to do a fine podcast with, as well as could ant. we could have two or three awesome shows that both people are actually passionate about versus one show that no one really is passionate about at all.

The time for fake showbiz relationships is over. I want all the dirty laundry hung out to dry, and I want a real show with real relationships put on by real people who arent afraid to express their genuine real feelings and attitudes. No more of this "sweep the shit under the rug and bitch about management for an hour" bullshit.

That being said i have also been enjoying the chemistry lately. But its just so obviously fake. So much of it too.

I honestly don't think it's fake. I think they are finally just kinda at peace with what they have and it show. Everyone is just kinda relaxed and thinking to themselves "fuck it". But thats IMO.

No i agree with what you are saying. Which exactly is why its fake to me. They sweep their personal drama and issues under the rug in the name of keeping the show running smooth. Notice they still havent discussed the fight that led to opie storming out of the studio for days. that shit is radio gold and the listeners are waiting with baited breath to hear about ANY kind of real shit between the two of them, but they completely dismiss it and forget about it.

Yes, they may have come to a position where they just say fuck it and leave their personal shit at the door. and that is exactly the opposite of what you are supposed to do in radio. Look at all the drama on the stern show. look at teddy and artie. I loved the teddy and artie debacle. You dont get shit like that here with the bbboys.

It's hard to say what I'd do if I was in their positions. I'm sure they know that a blowup on the air would be good for the listeners, but it's be bad for their relationship. I'd love to hear about what went down, but I don't blame them for not wanting a fight. Their partnership has earned them millions of dollars and it'll continue to for the foreseeable future. A fight is good for one days worth of radio. Then it just becomes uncomfortable for the days that follow. Whatever they're doing right now is working and that's all that matters.
