I was saddened/confused when it became apparent that people considered them "news". Which I guess makes sense, as their die-hards will go on ad nauseum about Coulter & O'Reilly -- as if they were "news", as well.
(Disclaimer: I fucking love Strangers with Candy.)
Reddit is full of no nothing college aged liberals. Blah blah I hate republicans they are evil, except for my parents who pay for my college, they are ok.
oh and pun slinging douche bags, I swear every fucking topic has at least 1 chain of dumb puns or FTFY things that just devolve into stupid dumb jokes.
It's so great when I see an interesting post and want to check the comments to see if there is any more back story and it's 70 replies of fucking puns I have to sift through. I wish there was a pun block ad on for reddit, I'd pay for it.
Intellectually speaking, everything has become ironic. Jim & Ant talked about this discussing hipsters when Patrice got mad at the comedians from Workaholics. Everything has been made into a fucking joke. Everything. So it's impossible to show real emotion or have a real opinion because you open yourself to Colbert/Stewart style humor. It's the easiest thing to take someone's words, add funny facial expressions and repeat those words like a child, maybe do a facepalm and destroy the meaning of those words. It's fucking childish and exhausting.
I don't agree with everything Jim or Ant say but they hold their opinions and their irony is informed by a real sense of humor, it's not a laconic hipster style "who cares about anything maaan" bullshit.
Sorry for the long rant.
"Hipster" is something that Jim and Ant hate because they are the guys Ant and Jim are fighting for 18 year old girls over. Without money, no teenager is going to sit around listening to whining over taxes and how great Journey and Ozzy are.
It's a bunch of young kids who don't realize that Colbert is literally making chip jokes except he can hire writers. And it's also the fact that people like Colbert act outraged when people like Rush do asian jokes and then he launches into an asian impression. If an Asian impression is "not cool" for conservatives to do comedy with, why is it OK for Colbert to parody a conservative doing an asian impression with an asian impression.
Long story short as Jimmy says they're all full of shit.

Even worse is that many people view Colbert and Stewart not as funnymen, but as future political leaders.

Even worse, many people consider Foxnews and Msnbc as news stations and not ass political commentary distributors.
