How'd you feel about the first hour of thurday's company bashing show?

The first hour of thursday's show before Marc Maron came on was mostly the guys talking shit about the company and how the show was changing channels. Do fans like this side of the show? More often than not it's at Opie's behest that the conversation turns toward this type of conversation, but all three were in for it on the first 3rd of airtime thursday. Did you guys like it? Find it interesting and/or funny? Or was it best left off the air amongst themselves/twitterdom?

I liked it because it felt almost like a private conversation I was listening in on that normally you wouldn't hear between three tired, tired men.

For some reason management bitching really pleases me. I enjoy listening to it.

I'm usually OK with bitching when they have material, like channel changes, ET taking studio/station number, and promos not going out. Still, it did get tired around the 30 mark.

I'm pretty sure that the conversations they have on air are totally different from off-air. By that I mean, less melodramatic off-air. They're not just letting it all out there.

Get sick of the crying. They bail on interviewing a real-deal fucking credible actor, but hang the fuck out with obnoxious dagos from Jersey. Then, piss and moan they don't get promoted enough. They should have given this ten minutes of airtime.

I enjoy every minute of the bitching. I mean it's better than acting like nothing is going on behind the scenes. It reminds you that the show is real and worst of all...it's in the hands of incompetent sacks of shit(Management). Clip of the SiriusXM bashing - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg3b3TZQ84M

I usually don't mind the bitching, but I really like it when they're all in on it. It reminded me of the book radio fiasco, only with more anger.

I haven't heard Ant that angry at something besides colored folk/politics in a while, and it was pretty refreshing.

Ant's rants are the best part of the program.

IMHO there are a few things...

1) They've had more than one opportunity to walk away from SiriusXM and every time they come back. They've made it abundantly clear that they can't wait to leave the building once the show ends and that they don't want to ever attend meetings, yet they complain when management doesn't give in to all their on-air demands. They need to either accept being a part of SiriusXM as it is with all its shortcomings or move on.

2) They know there isn't much else out there for them. No company would hold back something they think can make them money. When your main sponsor is a jewelry store that no one outside of Philly has heard of, you've got problems.

3). Opie is going through a midlife crisis. Jimmy has his career in comedy. Ant is living it up at the compound. And Opie thinks that after a 20 year radio career, he should be more famous than he is. Everything he does is done to get attention. That's why he signed on with ebaums world. It's why he always talks about his numbers. It's why he's so desperate to go viral with one of his stupid videos.

They had the opportunity to walk away, and if you notice during there last contract negotiations they didn't sign until the last minute. Walking away from a potentially multi million dollar contract because you can't get a video element on your show, or they change the number of your station would be god damn fucking stupid. Don't you realize that a lot of bitching about the company is done for entertainment purposes, and I'm sure a lot of working class folks are disenfranchised with there bosses, and love to listen to someone like O&A rip into management.

the going viral makes sense if you see it as a way to make the move to podcasting - if they are honest about wanting out and not bitching to fill time

I felt bored. They're being paid millions to work for only 3 hours a day. Suck it up, nobody forced you to re-sign.

seems ta me those boys and the company should agree to disagree

back at the job site you'd get canned in a second if you even thought about something like this, ya got your lunch break and ya got work, that's how i see it

what the hell do i know

I can understand why it is difficult to leave Sirius/XM but why haven't they found a new agent? They have also complained about Bob for several years now, certainly there are other people who might represent them or is that also 'for the show'?

all you anthony slurpers need to realize that opie can't do all the work. he's got kids now, and last i checked there are TWO names on the wall. but no, ant can't be bothered to do anything for the show other than just showing up. he should be the one shouldering responsibility now and making sure the show gets what it needs.

I enjoyed it, because I generally enjoy arguing/airing of grievances. That kind of stuff is interesting to me. My problem is, it's starting to seem like it's just a bit for the air. At some point you'd imagine they would get someone on the phone and yell at them on the air, or bring someone in or even do something in private and then talk about it on the air. I don't think the circumstances are fake, but the outrage is starting to feel fake and that's the part that I don't enjoy.

A lot of times I find myself in the "welp, here we go again, Jimmy or Ant will at least drop in some good bits of yooomah during it though" camp, but in this case I totally understand the anger. Whether the show is as popular as it should be, by name recognition alone it deserves more respect than the company - and I absolutely understand that we're only hearing the one side here, but the evidence is there to suggest that they're not talking totally out of their asses the majority of the time because it makes "good radio" - and it does appear that they have good reason to feel like an afterthought to these management folk.

The "finding out from listeners" angle might be a stretch, Ant let slip something at one point that seemed to contradict that angle, but these sweet boys should have the pull to not necessarily overrule SXM boss decisions but at least be able to say that they should be on the same channel on both radios (Louis CK NAILED how shitty it all works now, I have spent far too much time trying to explain over multiple calls the simplest of issues that are ALWAYS fucked up by their CSR department) and have it happen with no pushback and have it never get to that point. It may seem like a minor change, but I understand their anger and annoyance completely. I work for a major media/tech company and have sat through countless meetings that push totally unnecessary changes in user experience mainly by totally out of touch people who think pushing changes like this is a way to justify their existences and bloated salaries. People with power who have no idea what they're talking about but think they should nod along and vow to push the plan forward to also justify their bloated salaries. I've sat through more meetings with the sole purpose of discussing what should be discussed at the next meeting than I can count so I have no problem believing what they accuse the wizard and Pot Roast or whatever that boss of the Wiz's radio name was of doing the same. The boys get Dangerfielded all the time and I don't fault them for being fed up with it for a second. The bitch session Thursday AM was more relatable for me than I could have imagined.

TL;DR: They're right on this one, they deserve FAR more respect than the company gives and E-Rock's a fucking dinosaur.

I enjoy it for the simple fact that how great would it be to do your job, and get paid a lot of money, but openly criticize your boss and upper management?

It is everybody's dream.

The best parts of the show is when they talk about real stuff. Whether its staff, show bitching, personal stories, whatever. They don't know shit about politics, they don't know shit about sports, they may know music but I just don't care, tv/movie talk is just meh to me.

Ant's rants are always gold. He was threatening to leave and quit going to meetings. Good stuff.

HATED IT!! When they bitch, i want someone to hit opies 'Be more funny!' button.

I imagine you driving in your car and just shaking your fist and head every time the opster talks.

I admire your commenting dedication though.....

Pretty much.
