I think a lot of the negativity here is because people think it's cool to be "edgy" like O&A. The difference is when O&A do it it's usually funny.
I think everyone brings the funny to the show. No matter who is on, it makes me laugh. And I think that's the point. Ant, Jim, Op, the crew and everyone that comes in. Look at the countless hours of laughs that you get from this show. I have hours of YouTube clips saved to my favorites. Whenever I feel like shit, it's an instant pick me up. Maybe you get a miss with a guest or "friend of the show", or you get an hour of bitching or nigger hating rants, or even listening to a group of men eat tacos for a half hour. But I cant help but see the bigger picture. I fucking love this show.
When Stephen lynch was on ant started telling stories, and Opie jumped in and brought it back to Stephen. It's stuff like that, knowing how to host a show, that makes him what he is.
I used to be a Opie hater myself, but after the "Channel moves and O&A didn't know" rant, I forgot how much I am "entertained" by Opie whether I like him or not.
I now have a bit of respect for Opie, but I do welcome more Sam on the show. And i still think the Nopie shows are more entertaining.
Anthony's retarded megalomaniacal conservative political rants are the only thing that make me stop listening to this show. Nothing anyone else does is annoying in comparison.

I don't agree with the common "Opie isn't funny but keeps the show moving" line. He's just not good at doing voices or riffing like Ant and Jim are. The way he's funny is creating uncomfortability, pushing buttons and occasionally going full asshole (like the poker chips incident). Ant's instincts OTOH are usually to avoid awkwardness, especially with in studio guests.
