Louis CK didn't give them SNL tickets?

While they were discussing Kevin Hart on SNL, Opie briefly mentioned that Dane Cook was the only one who ever got them SNL tickets and made a point to mention Louis CK. I was actually pretty shocked that LCK didn't give them tickets when he was on SNL. Whether or not he wants to admit it, LCK owes a great deal of his success to O&A.

Is he popular enough for people to start hating him yet? It was only a matter of time.

The backlash is happening. It's a shame but I think Lou'll be able to ride it out.

I just listened to that show and didn't get the sense at all opie was subtly calling out lck.

How do you figure?

Two more years before Louis C.K. is hated and called "predictable" because he can't re-invent his voice just because people get tired of it. See: Dane Cook.
For the record, if I had 1/100th of Louis' talent I would be happy.

Yes he fucking does.
He's said before his shows are always like 1/3 meathead O&A-type fans, 1/3 young hipsters, 1/3 older regular people/parents.

I would say BEFORE Louie, it was probably 1/3, now it's probably more hipsters and adults who don't like comedy shows per say but love the hype around him and the reviews he's gotten.

Louis CK has been paying dues as a stand up for more than twenty five years. He did that through perseverance, relentless touring, and finding his audience. HBO and his featuring in countless stand up festival shows that ended up televised (I saw Louis on an airplane television almost fifteen years ago flying into Colorado). The dude has been a name to ANYONE paying attention to stand up since the early 90s.
DeRosa? Maybe. Even Bob Kelly. Obviously Jimmy. Not Louis. He always kills on the show, he is on a lot, the O&A fans have always supported him, but he doesn't owe a lot of his success to the show.

I agree with everything you said except detosa DEF and bobby DEF. bobby even said recently the majority of people at his shows are o and a fans.

I'm giving some modest credit to the comics themselves. If they want to put that out their that's great, but I'm not going to hold them accountable to thanking O&A for basically their entire careers, ya know?

Oh I think I misunderstood what you said. I thought you were saying that they don't owe their fan base to O and a and that they are as popular as they are on their own.

what he said^

I think Louis CK is funny but not that funny.
He is nowhere near as funny on his feet as Colin Quinn, Dave Attell or Bill Burr is or Patrice was.
Recent CK's material has been predictable, the only thing he has going for him now is his timing.

Thanks for weighing in. Needed this.

I can tell you how I feel about indoor plumbing too.

I disagree completely with your first two sentences. Louis was one of the only guys who could shut down Patrice off the cuff.
Your third paragraph I have to agree with.

Remember too recent lck material is RECENT. His "old" material is like most other comics new material
0 [deleted] 2013-02-27
What do you mean?
1 mancubuss 2013-02-27
He puts out material so much more often than other comics that what we view as his old stuff is like other comics new stuff
