i've tried listening to stern, and when there's people like norm macdonald or something its fine. but i can't fucking stand robin and the atmosphere doesn't seem anywhere close to as loose and funny compared to o&a. maybe it used to be good, but it just doesn't seem like anything special
80's and 90's Stern was pretty good, Gilbert Gottfried's appearances back then were legendary. If you've got satellite, Howard 101 airs some old interviews and bits during the Stern Show Shuffle that are worth listening to, and of course Youtube has classic stuff too. Somewhere along the way Howard lost his edge, whether it was the money, Sirius, getting older, being accepted into mainstream Hollywood or a combination of those things.
I wish more people understood this. I enjoy both shows as well, but the Stern fan sycophant thing is just bizarre. Some people over at /r/howardstern think everything he says is truth, when in reality, the dude's just trying to make entertaining radio.

opie is at fault too, i think radio wars are ridiculous. EVEN bubba on sirius had it's moments, i just consume entertainment and don't get into drama.
