Well of course, I was just giving an example of people who refuse to go on the show out of solidarity to Howard. It's just the fucked up thinking of the rabid Howard fans that annoys me.
The one that really bugs me is Carolla. I don't think either Howard or Carolla would care that much if he did O&A, but I think they have an unspoken thing going on since Howard really pumped him up as his west coast replacement. I'd love to hear Carolla and Ant in the same room together.
Yea, I remember listening to all of that. It really seemed like Opie overreacted. Carolla is known to be the kind of guy who misses social cues. I think Opie expected a handshake and some pleasantries and took it personally when that didn't happen.
I think it is a shitty excuse and one easily sorted. Lisa has her reasons I doubt it is due to the Howard embargo. It used to be in operation when they worked for the same company back in WNEW days. But I think Howard is just too lazy to carry any active vendetta against a guest that appears on both shows.
I was surprised when Jackie Martling came on a year or two ago since he has a regular show on Howard 101. I wonder if Greg Fitzsimmons falls in this category.
It definitely isn't how it use to be, I don't really think Howard cares anymore. I'm not a Howard fan, I'm a huge O&A fan (I listen every day). But with that said, I really don't think O&A compete with Howard like they use too. Howard is much bigger than O&A these days, listener wise. Howard Stern is one of the most popular radio shows in America, not just on Sirius XM.
Howard isn't as popular as you would think, it is only promoted in such away. And more people know of howard because of how long he's been around and in the media (and recently because of AGT).
Personally O&A are not only the better show but FAR FAR better. The deserve to get their studio expanded and they deserve the recognition howard is getting. I think the two shows are the two most listened to shows on Sirius/XM and the disparity between the two probably isn't as large as it once was and there are probably more crossover fans now. Especially because of Howard only doing 2-3 days a week and taking so much time off. Give O&A a bigger studio, promote them as if they are equals to Howard and not lesser than him, and I think you would see a resurgence in their show. I think it's great now, but it lacks the excitement it had, now it is a simply a talk show. Give them a bit more and I think you see that excitement come back.
It's crazy to see how many old Howard fans have moved to O&A myself included. Pretty much any Stern related dialogue online now is 85% negative with a few hangers on still defending the show.
Lampinelli is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that will only do Howard (not a big loss anyway imo, but I think the guys like her).
BTW, since somebody mentioned him earlier, Dipaolo hasn't been on in awhile. Too busy with N&A or what? I miss him.
Also, I would love it if they had Artie on someday. Obviously, him and Jimmy are friends, and I don't think O&A really have much of a problem with Artie himself (plus, if they did, they could just discuss it on the air). Would be fun, but I don't think Artie would agree to it, and I'm just rambling at this point.

Colin Quinn, Bob Levy, Jim Florentine and Nick Dipaolo are also regulars.
Lou was on once as well.

Levy can't even enter the building.

I'd say there are fewer comics that refuse to do O&A over Howard.
Lisa Lampinelli is one of those, for whatever reason.
It just seems dumb nowadays, especially since they're in the same building working for the same company.

I don't think not having Lisa Lampinelli is a big loss. Howard can have the unfunny woman.

Seriously, I don't even want to hear her jewey-witch voice on the show.

If Lisa couldn't take Patrice's ball breaking I'm sure she would have a hard time sitting in there with the bbboys and Vos or Baba Kelli.

Is there a clip of Jim talking about it on Carolla's show?

Yeah O & A brought it up once on the air. They said that Lisa didn't want to rock the boat, since she occasionally does shows on Howard 101.
But every other comic does shows freely. I wish Andrew Dice Clay would disapear forever though...jesus christ is he a living time capsule
4 [deleted] 2013-01-07
I like Dice being on because even if he isn't funny, you know Jay Mohr is going to shit on him next time he is in studio and that is always hilarious.

A huge one who won't do O&A and has tons of history with Howard is Gilbert Gottfried. That one bothers me the most.

His Stern appearances are legendary, I grew up on this shit.
2 [deleted] 2013-01-07
The thought of Norton, Anthony and Gilbert riffing off each other makes me hard.

Amy Schumer did howard recently.

Andrew Dice Clay, Dave Attel, Chris Rock...... if the comic is well known Howard doesn't say shit...

Well, with Howard practically only doing 2 days a week, he can't really tell a comedian not to come on. He'll end up with no guests.
I would love to hear Artie on OandA one day... Little Himmy and Artie are friends outside the show after all.

Let's hope Liberty Media will see it this way.
