I've been a huge Howard fan for years, but just now realized I enjoy O&A a million times more. Anyone else here make the jump in the past year or two?

Howard is just so stale these days. Five minutes of Chip is so much funnier than a whole week (err.. 3 days) of Howard. I think Jimmy might be the funniest person on radio right now.

I think Howard doing AGT really did it as well. The radio show just doesn't feel special anymore.

The relaxed, ball busting, guys hanging out feel of the O&A show is just so much better than a 30 minute AGT commercial every morning. I used to have to listen to every bit of the Stern show, but now I find myself forgetting about it.

I was more excited for Jocktober this month than any bit on the Stern show in the past couple years. Also, thanks to youtube, I have a wealth of old O&A clips to keep me entertained for hours (I spent about 3 hours listening to Bobo clips last night, I fucking love that gullible idiot). I don't even know what I'm saying, just thought I'd share and wondering how many of you are also fairly new listeners.

HOO-HOO! theyre stealing my listeners Robin! i invented listeners HOO-HOO!

Howard has become everything he once mocked. He refers to it as "evolution".

Howards studio is a sealed, lightless cavern unpenetrated by criticism or reality. It's profoundly creepy to listen.

And you really don't even notice it until you're out of the cave, looking in. While you're in there, Howard is the best thing ever. I think that clip that was posted here a couple days ago with him talking about how everyone is a secret anti-semite says it all. A few years ago, I would have shrugged that off as another Howard rant, but now it comes across as super creepy.

I'm from NY and grew up on Stern but he lost his steam a while ago, which is understandable. I stopped listening regularly. The show is never live so it's not that hard to wean yourself. He isn't in touch with his audience or reality at all. I think I held on so long because of Artie.

Artie was the only thing keeping his show grounded to the common man.

Yeah artie leaving was also when I left and tried out OnA.

So glad I did.

I couldn't agree with you more

Listened to Howard from around '96. After the Artie suicide attempt, the show went from good to just depressing and uninteresting. Didn't renew Sirius... Bought a new car that came with XM, put on O&A for the first time ever, with Patrice in the middle of one of his rants/explanations and was hooked.

One show with Patrice would make anyone who appreciates good radio a fan of O&A. That guy was a genius.

Guilty, he got me.

Old Howard in mornings and O&A on afternoons was the best ever!

Howard would get the big guests and the porn stars and the management battles and back in those days he actually gave a damn about putting on a radio show. O&A were always the listener-friendly out & about comedian-centric show that just made you laugh (and cringe).

These days, just the boys hanging out with their comedian friends is the best thing on radio or podcasts bar none. Jimmy just riffing is absolutely hilarious. I'm not a big fan of his standup (even live in vegas) but there's absolutely nobody funnier off the cuff.

Howard is just not relevant these days. He's a relic to be studied and respected, not listened to.

"He's a relic to be studied and respected, not listened to."

Well said. Nobody can deny Howies greatness, even ant will tell you that. he just lost the plot in the 2000s unfortunately :(

I think had he just bowed out gracefully instead of signing again for 3 days a week, his legacy would have been amazing. Everyone I know who listens, even the most casual of listeners, seems disinterested these days.

It seems like he's rushing to make a name for himself on AGT, so he'll have some sort of career once he's done with this contract. I don't think AGT will want anything to do with him if he's not giving a 45 minute commercial for them every morning.

I jumped ship from Howard about 5 years ago. I can't define it but the show just got stale. I loved Artie but he was no Jackie. Stern had a good 10 year period where 99% of the shows were perfect. Nothing could ever compare to them ripping on Gary. Or when everyone would tear Jackie apart. I blame the divorce & Beth

I never got the Jackie thing. I'm only 27, so i started listening around about 2000, so I think I missed the whole Jackie era. I think his really older stuff was kinda cheesy, but so was O&As really old stuff.

The Artie period was the stern show I got hooked on. But yea, stern really has become everything he used to hate. For him to sit there and pretend AGT isn't the fakest, most produced, planned out thing ever is just odd. He talks about it like he's actually judging a talent show and the producers don't tell him exactly how to vote. It sort of seems like a huge betrayal to his audience, not to mention its just really lame.

"you should listen to awll my clips awlllright, they for da show..."

I don't think I've ever laughed harder at something on the radio than the first time I listened to Bobo as The Fugitive. His little retard brain was made for the air.

Did you find the clip of Patrice laughing at Bobo's awful nub dick when it was getting hard and soft. Patrice laughed so hard he fell on the floor. I can hear Patrice's laugh ringing in my ears whenever I think about it. Miss that guy.

Was that when Bobo made cumsies in the studio? (supposedly?)

Wish they would put Bobo on and torture him more.

No, that was when Erock touched his penis.

Yes! I love that I got to hear about half a yr of Patrice sitting in once in a while before he died. I miss the shit outta that guy.

I left when Artie did and the show turned into nonstop fucking America's Got Talent and Dancing With the Stars discussion.

I do miss Richard and Sal fagging it up though. Not sure what that says about me.

I made the switch a few months ago and couldn't be happier. I was tired of the Stern show for all the same reasons as you. I couldn't agree more with Jimmy being the funniest person going on radio right now. He has made me laugh uncontrollably more than anyone I can think of.

Anthony is right up there with him too. I listened to Youtube videos of Anthony impersonating Dice for hours the other night and killed myself laughing.

I know quite a few people don't like Opie but I'm pretty indifferent to him. He doesn't bug me, but he doesn't add nearly as much to the show as the other guys.

I think the biggest difference between O&A and Stern is how they embrace comedians. Stern will have a comic in and it feels like an interview. With O&A, when a comedian is in, it feels more like a conversation than an interview.

And Jocktober is fantastic! I didn't even know about it until it started and absolutely love it. At one point they talked about a "Guy's Garage" contest at one of these stations, and Jimmy joked about the prize being towels to stuff under the doors and a hose to connect to the tailpipe. i fucking lost it when he said that.

I've started rambling, but just wanted to say that O&A is the shit.

Check out all the old Jocktobers on youtube, definitely worth a listen.

Will do, thanks.

I was a big stern fan until artie left. Then the show just sucked. Started listening to O&A in 2011. I love it for the most part, until Ant starts his irrational political and race discussions.

Ant's rants are still 100 percent better than any time Howard would bring up anything pseudo political. That guy is either clueless or plays it way dumb to try to fool his listeners into voting s certain way.

Howard really is a big creep when it comes to certain things. Like why does he insist on saying he's half Italian? Just say you're Jewish, no one really cares at all.

"I think Jimmy might be the funniest person on radio right now." - Truth!

I got into Sirius because of Stern. I listened to him for the first few years, but then I made the switch to O&A after the merger. No regrets.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what's Jocktober and how does it play a part on O&A?

Every day in October, they play segments from a different radio show and showcase how douchey regular radio is. It's awesome and I look forward to it all year. I've been late to work multiple times this week because of it and I have no regrets. I'm sure you can find clips of it on YouTube.

Awesome, thank you!

Don't forget to mention the O&A fans brutalizing whichever show they picked that day's fb page with the most HORRID pictures you could ever think of.

Phase 1: Fans attack fb page. Phase 2: Fb page shuts down their wall. Phase 3: Fb page shuts down completely.

That picture of Hulk Hogan and the twin towers gets me every goddamn time.

I did this for you!

Started listening to O&A about a year and a half ago, listen to the show everyday if I can. I still tune into Howard 100 now and then, but have found it's more of an America's Got Talent wrap up show.

I listened to Stern every morning when I drove to high school (about 10 years ago) and it was alright, but nothing really sticks out in my mind to be honest.

Then O&A got syndicated to WJFK in Washington D.C. and it was over for me with Howard. I still remember sitting in my car for a half-hour, refusing to miss a second of listening to Opie and Anthony doing the staplegun challenge and laughing so hard I was in tears. Add to that all the cowardly shit he did with Mel Karmazen behind O&A's back (I absolutely believe Opie's story here), and I gave up any shred of respect I might have had for him years ago. In fact, the only time I really think of his show is when he's still "defending his territory" with guests, as if it's 2001 with K-Rock still. Just embarrassing.

The only thing that's surprising about Howard is that there are still people out there who listen to him. I can't understand that.

I'm in this club, I started up about 1.5 years ago from a recommendation from my brother. Left stern behind and haven't looked back.

Never really listened to Stern, but as a HUGE o and a fan... just had to post... couldnt have explained the feel of the show better... "hanging out feel," if you havent discovered this yet... check out all their shows http://spreadtheonavirus.com/

I switched a few months ago, best decision. Howard's show is so frustrating

I was a hardcore Howard fan since 2009, but i just felt the whole thing spiraling down ever since.... the show had some great parts but the last hurrah was George Takei and that aussie guy with the penis clamps. His honesty about Brad through the week and fun discussions.... after that, nothing ever got that funny again.

I first bumped into O&A with the James Rolfe interview (Angry Videogame Nerd) ... after that i sometimes came across O&A clips with comedians like Louie CK and others.... I listened more and more when suddenly about a year ago i was juggeling the two shows...

I wanted Howie to do a comeback, i remember the AGT announcement and was super excited.... then it just completely fizzed out. I stopped listening to Howard completely two months ago, just to enjoy the last months of Opie & Anthony.... now that they've resigned, i aint going back to Hoo Hoo.

Unless Artie... naah, forget it.

I did about 2 1/2 years ago. Wish I had done it sooner.

I was stuck listening to Stern for years, while he sucked. I was out of habit.

Jimmy isn't just the funniest person on radio, he's one of the best interviewers too. Howard is a disingenuous bore.

Yes! He really is a fantastic interviewer. I love how when even the smallest guest comes in, Jimmy has read their book already. The guest comes off just as surprised ha. I doubt Howard even thinks about reading the book, just more boring list of people they banged/sex life stuff, yawn.

Yeah, for sure. To me, Jimmy is hilarious, but he is also interested in other people in the business, in particular. He asks natural questions and is respectful of social norms, but can almost simultaneously be the raunchiest worst person ever.

I think the fact he's so brutally honest makes him 100x funnier than someone putting on a personality for radio. He self-deprecates about his acting but also seems genuinely interested in it, which reminds me of Louis CK.

Fairly new here as well. Jumped from Howard about a year or so ago. Actually, turned the dial that way a couple of months ago and wasn't surprised to hear the same old shit from ages ago, and refuse to go back. Feel like an asshole for talking shit to my buddy who tried to convert me long ago.

for the new people that missed out, look up almost any intern david clip. i miss that jew.

I've never listened to them on the radio , I used to listen to the JoeRogan experience, on which Bill Burr was a guest. Saw him live at the San Jose Improv . Checked out his youtube videos , saw one of a racial debate with him and Anthony almost tuned out ! Saw one patrice rant , hooked ever since , I download the old shows -especially the ones with Louie , Patrice , Jim Jefferies , and put it on my ipod.
