Actually you are wrong. Opie has nothing to do with Paltalk. Anthony has his own personal laptop hooked up to PT. As far as the board goes all he does is adjusts 3 or 4 different faders for the mics they use. Erock runs the real board. The reason Anthony dosen't take calls is because all of the callers suck. It's not that he dosen't know the rhythm. He knows that he shouldn't destroy a show just to pick up a phone so some idiot listener can spew 10 show references before he makes a stupid point. They all check their twitter feeds during the show.
Actually I dont remember when he talked about it, I think it was during a "contract talk" segment, but Ant said he was nervous as fuck for a looong time whenever Opie would be out, and didnt take phone calls because he wasn't confident enough in "running the show" position. Has nothing to do with him thinking the callers stink, even though they do.
He said that recently, before 2008 or 2009 they never took separate days off. I'm sure by now Anthony is pretty confident in his ability to run a show especially since he does it out of his basement drunk all of the time.
The man has a point. The LFTC shows have to be solid practice for running the show. Also, it's not like Ant has never taking calls when Opie is out. For whatever reason he hates it... and I honestly don't mind that.
The callers were better when they were on WNEW and a little bit better on FREEFM/Krock. Something about the satellite callers they feel the need to vomit every norton saying then make a horrible point. Every once in a while there is a decent caller. If the callers would just call up make a quick point then hang up like every other caller on every other show they would probably take more calls.
If you listen to the Friday show, they mentioned the hula girl being on Monday. Meaning they obviously signed. You really think if Sam was worried about his job they'd be joking about in on air? I LOVE the show but I hate the contract hype BS, then Opie gets mad if someone suggests it's a put on. When they are ready to retire, my guess is in 2 or 4 years we'll know. Also don't they both have to sign the contract? Something about their agent being the same and making sure the deal is the same?
Technically Sam and the rest of those guys work for Sirius/XM. I'm sure some of them would have jobs if O&A were to leave they would just be put on other shows.
