I wouldn't mind opie not re-signing and Sam taking his place. Sam shuts his mouth when a good comedic interaction is happening and doesn't try make a bad joke during it.
Oh don't get me wrong I appreciate his position a lot, he gets the whole thing moving again when it starts to get stale. I just think he's past his prime in terms of staying relevant
Yeah behind the scenes would be great actually. He gets the business and the way radio is run better than most but, ugh he's just terrible. The constant plugs of his garbage videos and the corny production that goes into them drives me insane
I actually don't mind Opie as much as a lot of people, but you guys bring up a good point I never thought of in Op being "management" material. He could absolutely run a station/channels far better than the current suits, no question about it. He knows radio ridiculously well, and can break out hardball/asshole mode as good as anyone. Sam is absolutely an Opie protege, and I have totally come around on him, but I don't think he's ready to take over yet. Maybe at the end of the new contract, but not yet IMO.
I honestly hate the show in it's current incarnation, they need to switch it up. The fact that I still listen occasionally still pisses me off, every time I have to listen to the fake, "pop culture sux", but guess what, o&a spend half every episode discussing pop culture. Opie and Anthony criticize how lame it is that Lady Gaga and some other pop culture issue are in the mainstreams focus, but then spend half a show focusing that very same subject.
I feel like O&A is geared towards haters, so when I listen to the show, I must be a hater... :(
I'm only pissed at myself that I let myself be entertained by same old bits, these fucking millionaires who could care less about me and their listeners, only how much money we'll give them.
I have trouble thinking that Anthony would sign and Opie wouldn't. Also, 2nd kid is imminent...I know he's got money, but he's not gonna quit the show if it's going on without him. He's just dragging the bit out.
I don't know why Sam is getting such love in this thread. He's good in small doses but he gets way too much airtime as it is. I get the feeling he thinks he's fourth mike when he isn't. I just find his shtick annoying after awhile.
I think the Anthony Cumia and Danny Ross show starring Sam Roberts and James Norton has legs. I love opie the destroyer, and I do agree that he gives the show structure, and I even agree that his complains are founded and justified, but Fuck enough.... To quote jayne Cobb, he is "damaging my cool".
Danny stinks. At least everyone on the show can make fun of Opie and he goes with it. Whenever they go after Danny he is a girl about it. Opie has been a cunt to me a few times but he's an important part of the show. I don't think it would be the same without him.
Opie goes with it?!? that baby instantly gets butt hurt. He's a little bitch when people tease him, thats why it happens so rare. Jim and Ant are constantly giving each other shit and they both 'howl' at how good they are. they dont even bother teasing their baby frat boy co-host.
I don't get ALL the Opie hate, he has funny moments and definitely keeps the show interesting. He's not AS funny as the other two but him calling himself "the Opster" and egging people on is hilarious Without him the show wouldn't be near as good as it is. When they retire I wouldn't mind a Sam and Jim show for a few years until Jim retires and Sam has to find a new cohost. Also can they sign independent of each other?
I'd love to see them have negotiated coming off of the Sirius plus tier or whatever the hell it is. Just nclidenthem with all subs = much bigger audience.

I think everyone knew Ant was gonna sign again. I'm not sure about Opie though.

He will.

Don't-Make-Waves Anthony is always the easier sell.

I'm told all they did was put a bowl of spaghetti on the table and point at the wall. He signed immediately.

Well I think they can still do the show without having a contract signed. Didn't they go a few days over without a contract 2 years ago?
6 Wolfhoof 2012-09-28
From what I heard they signed as they were walking in.
2 EVILTHE_TURTLE 2012-09-28
Opie did, ant signed the night before.

I know Opie gets a lot of hate, but as someone who appreciates his annoying ass a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing Sam take over either.

You mean like on thursday when he told Jimmy he should "write that down and use it" in his act?
Or when Iliza said something funny, and Opie stopped the whole show to say, "That's why you're here! HA HA! Gotham!"
It's getting sad. Opie needs a promotion. Dude should be running the show and working behind the scenes, because that's the shit he is obsessed with.

Very, very happy that today wasn't the last show!

He needs to mount a turret on his drone, of course he re-signed!

He is actually good on his Sunday show and his podcast. He drops the act and talks like a normal person. Can't stand his 'hole" role on the O&A show.

I hate Danny's cuntiness. He honestly defends himself like a woman, and has for years. He's almost as bad as Troy was against Derosa.

I think he gets butt hurt when listeners trash him. He seems to do okay when Ant or Jim go after him.
1 opieruinseverything 2012-09-28
no he doesn't. thats why he only shits on erock, cause he knows sex bagel won't stand up for himself.
1 [deleted] 2012-09-28
Just curious, why do you listen if you hate Opie so much? I would always turn the show off whenever bits involved Danny.
0 JoeOfThePr0n 2012-09-28
I agree about opie. But I also adore Danny on the show. I simply relate to him on a lot of things. Can we just agree that Troy is the biggest bitch?
4 [deleted] 2012-09-28
Troy is a pain in the ass. But that's only because Danny isn't on air that often anymore. Danny used to start shit with everyone.
1 thescrapplekid 2012-09-28
Whew, though I understand why they do short contacts now, seeing how long they had to wait to get out of their deal after Sex For Sam
1 DEFme 2012-09-28
A&S in the morning. Maybe, lol.

ill take danny or even sam as cohost before opie. he plays this bit because he knows people dont want him there.
