is you just do a normal curl its fine and give a 302 temp redirect which is good
curl -I -L http://onasubreddit.com
HTTP/1.1 302 Found
Server:
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 .
Connection: close
Location: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCellarTable
but if you use "-l" it gives a 502. Not sure how you're redirecting. It is just in the dns? Or you have a reverse proxy like nginx or something? That gives a 502. So i think certain browsers are having issues its giving a cache miss. I see an nginx in the header, but it could be your hosting doing it.
curl -I -L http://onasubreddit.com
HTTP/1.1 302 Found
Server: nginx/1.12.2
Date: Sat, 07 Sep 2019 03:42:37 GMT
Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
Connection: close
Location: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCellarTable
HTTP/2 502
cache-control: private, s-maxage=0, max-age=0, must-revalidate
x-frame-options: SAMEORIGIN
accept-ranges: bytes
via: 1.1 varnish
x-served-by: cache-bur17530-BUR
x-cache: MISS
x-cache-hits: 0
vary: Accept-Encoding
set-cookie: edgebucket=gS1bbr0ZP0IIrRgKwx; Domain=reddit.com; Max-Age=63071999; Path=/; secure
strict-transport-security: max-age=15552000; includeSubDomains; preload
server: snooserv
Also nginx 1.12.2 is fairly old at this point, but that shouldn't be an issue.
I thought I used a permanent redirect. I will update it.
I was also thinking of pointing it to a script hosted on one of my other domains, and instead of having to update the DNS then I could just update the script. This would get rid of any cache redirect issues. But I'm also lazy.
I'm not a dns expert but i think a perm redirect will cause issue because anyone's browser who cache it will go to the old one when it changes. I think temp is correct, but there's some cache miss issue.
anyway like i said its not my area, but trying to be helpful.
Yeah, I'm gonna set this up tomorrow. I'll write something that will just grab the URL from the Twitter page and update (if needed) a simple redirect page.
I nerded out. I wrote a script that will check the "website" listed in on the @OnASubReddit and update a redirect script accordingly. Once I know the cronjob runs correctly I'll update the DNS redirect.
It's pretty funny. Samcro thinks were all reddit panera millennials and this took me 30 seconds. Hes a retarded boomer who found out about ctrl alt delete last year.

Hmm... you're probably right. I think my idea of forwarding it to a permanent page that just redirects the browser might be the way to go.
