Art is supposed to be timeless

Yet Fatass Fatrick Slobinson, who allegedly fancies himself as an "artist" (he also views himself as not fat and a tough guy, so take it with a grain of salt) references Trump and Die Hard in a sci-fi novel. Way to forever have your work get viewed in and consequently stuck in a very specific time period. That's called being "dated". The only bright side is that you - and especially your bargain basement works - will be long forgotten about by then. You really are a talentless bitch.

He is going for the woke money.

Too bad he has not seen the effects of get woke go broke, because CNN did not tell him yet.

Disney just learned the hard way that “woke” isn’t entirely profitable. Every film that was sold as woke performed under expectations, and they just sunk 400 million into Vice; an investment that they’ve now deemed “inherently worthless”. The woke blogs plan was to hook em young, while establishing a legacy as being woke left leaders, yet their blogs are getting bought out in fire sale after fire sale.

Pop culture references are inherently meaningless to begin with, which is kind of how the left sees art now: No real value, outside of being a conduit for THEIR ideas. So why not have pop culture references in your work?

I agree with your statement and your username.

No, because his "Orwellian vision" of the world involves Donald Trump.

Disney "fired" the director for the next marvel like a year ago over pedo jokes he made on Twitter years ago. But then when all the whining and metoo nonsense died down they pretty much said "lol jk he's rehired." I respect that.

Well the Left, among other factions, don't really see pedophilia as a problem...

He is gay fucking shit

Reminds me of a stand-up we know that still references Terri Schiavo and Pat O'Brien.

Who?

What!? Don’t you remember all those hilarious Jimmy Carter/Ayatollah jokes in the Empire Strikes Back?

Which reminds me of another annoying part of the prequels. All those ham-handed references -- at least that's how I always took them -- to the politics of the Bush era.

Woke money is all good until Mommy and Daddy's HELOC and MasterCard is maxed out and you have to start paying rent so they can make the mortgage nut.

It's basically the show don't tell rule. That's why LOTR is so good. Though obviously it's a reflection of aspects of the real world he completely avoids explicit allegory. Which turns the book into one that can be enjoyed forever and not just a cheap attempt to jam a shitty sci fi novel with a bunch of references so idiots can point and say 'hey I recognize that thing.'

Honestly I thought you guys were making up that Trump thing at first. How fucking hack can you get?

being "dated"

Like his first wife was by his best friend, and like his current wife presumably is by a sixth-stringer for the Milwaukee Bucks?
