My review of Nick Di Paolo's new special as I trudge through the awfulness.

First off, I like Nick, he's a good egg. That being said, wow, did this one ever stink. The jokes themselves weren't terrible, but what's happened with Nick that's also happened to so many others is he wants to actually change the world more than make jokes about it. You're a comedian, know your place, dummy.

This is why so many comedians nowadays are boring, they want to be Carlin or Hicks, but don't have the intellect or social observation it takes to be at that level, so they just sound like angry old people ranting with a punchline here and there. This is what ruined Anthony, among other things.

Anyways, onto da show.

Nick's outfit was atrocious, I don't normally notice what a comedian is wearing because who cares, but, it was so awful and showed how out of touch Nick is, even with Tough Crowd fans like us. He looked like a middle school teacher, or someone who installs virus protection software in big tech companies.

Nick opens up with a really original bit about how white men are no longer respected, there were no original punchlines or takes in the bit, and, Nick's not even white. He turned it into a Vos-like rest area joke. This was his opening bit.

Then he goes into Jews building the Waze app, and how it was ironic that Jews would know where they are because they're usually lost in the desert - not a bad bit, but again it's his anger that kills the comedy.

There was a decent bit about girls getting raped in Uber's, like, if you're an ugly girl get an Uber you might get lucky - this one I did smirk at, because it's actually a funny joke.

It didn't last though, because now we get into Obama and Jussie Smollett. I honestly turned the show off after this part, there were thousands of funny Smollett bits that were funny 4 months ago, Nick chose to use none of them. Nick was talking about the event like it just happened. Imagine your network security guy from Pakistan coming into the office in May and whispering 'hey, did you hear about that Jussie Smollett guy? Ohhh ho, what a bad boy!' that was about the level Nick was coming at.

I want to watch the last 45 minutes, but I dno, the first 15 were so bad I don't know if I can. Also, any SJW that goes after Nick for this special chose the wrong hill to die on **cough cough Maille.
