Let’s say theoretically that a certain no-name Sci-Fi author said on numerous occasions that it’s ok to punch women in the face for merely wearing a Trump hat, and made threats of violence against several people’s’ wives/daughters/sisters/etc...

And he had a book coming out in a few weeks and his publisher was unaware of said statements. What would an internet community devoted to a radio show that was cancelled 5 years ago do about that? Hypothetically speaking.

Nothing. I want to read stupid shit fights in its Amazon review section

or post the quotes in the amazon review section

Hypothetically speaking, of course, one would compile a list of these incidents and write up a very professional email, from a concerned fan of said publisher, asking if they'd consider reversing course. Make it clear that you're not trying to make demands, but that your disappointment is overwhelming and that you're now unable to share some of your favorite books (again from said publisher) with your two daughters, becuase you're worried they may run into this violent sexist and be turned away from Sci-fi entirely.

I'd also state that while you would never even consider voting for a vile racist like Trump, you don't believe women should be assaulted by men for doing so.

Wrap it up with something like "these books have been far too impactful on my life for me to burn them or even just get rid of them, but I worry I'll never be able to read them the same way again."

Keep in mind, this is a group of people who covered up pedophilia and then complained that a convicted pedophile wasn't allowed at Sci-fi conventions.

Someone should really say something
