As bad as it was, XFL is still a brand worth reviving, unlike starting a new, already interest saturated MMA promotion. I know that the AAF, the other new football league actually exceeded expectations this year. I also don’t think he would’ve found a network partner as both FOX and Disney kneel at the alter of UFC. Outside of NBC (USA, NBCSN), he wouldn’t have had many options.
Yeah but the point is it exceeded expectations. You can accurately measure risks and potential failures now that you watched one alt league fed to the lions.
It didn't go belly up so much as the controlling shareholder decided to shut it down for reasons that make little sense to most. Claims they needed NFL Practice squad players to continue, but he's the only one who ever said that. A big theory is that he only bought into the league to gain access to the technology behind their real-time app, which he could then basically turn into a sports betting app. Who knows, there's a lot weird shit that went on behind the scenes there, whatever happened.
Charlie Ebersole (who went on to form the AAF) wanted to buy it from Vince. Vince took this to mean there was enough interest to bring it back, so he did it himself
MMA is losing interest ever since Ronda Rousey retired and Conor jobbing to Floyd Mayweather then Khabib muslim guy. There's also a lot of people who want an NFL alternative
He just got a new competitor in the wrestling world and he decides to try to revive his shitty football organization. The old greedy queer is going senile.
It's going to be pretty funny to watch people laugh at Vince McMahon and then watch him take over football by using his little mainstream meme tricks to get the casual retards out there watching. It will be like Trump all over again with the Kaepernick type shit.
Never got why American sports leagues are so small. We have literally 1000's of football clubs and they could technically play in the big leagues. A free market place like America has weirdly closed off leagues with weird communist type "worst team gets 1st pick" transfer markets too.

If any league outside the NFL got any traction the NFL should just start NFL 2 and introduce promotion and relegation between the leagues.

Why did Vince bring back the XFL instead of starting an MMA promotion?

It was straight fire for the first 2 games. The charisma of Martz wasn’t lost on the nation.

Yeah he did wonders with Stafford. Mike Martz stinks.

Remember when he had Warner, Holt and Faulk and every commentator was calling him a “football genius.”

Maybe so but if you think a 2nd tier pro football leauge will succeed you probably think Opie and Anthony was a good radio program.

If he leaves, or at least cuts his role with the Fed down, it could be a great thing tbh
