I wonder if he's at all struck by the fact that they put half of his face in full shadow. The lighting looks like something you'd expect in a play or a piece of performance art. Everyone else was in normal levels of light.
He's like the cartoonish villain in some 80s movie warning the protagonist that he has his, child and if he ever wants to see him again he better buy at least 10 copies of a generic sci-fi novel.
