My grandparents had a black bulldog named "Spook." I had no idea it was racial slur until I got older.

My grandfather had a black labrador/lurcher mongrel called "Gyppo." "Gyppo" was how he referred to Egyptians or anyone from Greece to Syria, or generally just of a brownish hue. He would have undoubtedly classed the Cumias as gyppos.
