He had the amazing set at the Patrice roast, he had the taxi game show where the questions were always annoyingly hard (I like a 2nd round of Jeopardy level of difficulty in my game show) and he had nothing else.
My guess is he made enough money on the game show that he went "fuck it". Or he had some low level funny comic write him A+ material on the Cellar comics that weren't paying attention to him. Either way, the truly funny can be funny on more than one occasion.
That's the issue, this set is legendary, no question about it.
The problem? Find the other set, radio appearance, standup act, that comes close to being as good as this is. Where he's "this good on the mic". He's a comic one-hit wonder, who managed to book a gig hosting a game show.
I saw him do standup at a bar show a few years ago and he was really good, but maybe in a 90’s kind of way. Gary Gulman was on the same show, another very tall and imposing guy, but totally different style and he kind of bombed.
