I don’t really detect a healthy relationship between Joe and Ant. A remnant of being raised by a terrible father, Joe’s unending stupidity, and Anthony’s refusal to confront his own feelings.
One thing Danny said recently that oddly didn’t spark any discussion was “Anthony knows Joe is a doofus” (or something to that effect). Anthony has a lot of personality flaws but I’ll give him one thing, he’s perceptive and actually not terribly stupid. There’s no way he doesn’t view Joe as an irritant and a liability. Joe’s antics have done nothing but being negative attention to Anthony. I think that if Joe weren’t in the picture, we would have forgotten about Anthony years ago.
