Seems like he was acquainted with the guitar tech of BOC which led to him getting the privilege of getting to play with them. That's why the guy has the look of utter contempt on his face. What it was, was, a legendary rock band gifted Joe with an opportunity to play with them, assuming he knew his place, and then instead he tried to play over them, and they didn't appear to care for that.
