I can't remember what show it was from, but they did talk about it a little bit. If I remember right only Opie went to the funeral. Anthony was his usual faggy "Ew, I can't handle being uncomfortable" self throughout the clip.
They didn't say what happened, but you could pick up from their tone that it wasn't good. It didn't come out until later that he'd killed himself.

Jim or Ant sort of accidently confirmed things on air when they made a reference to hanging doing the "yeesssssssss" bit before it was officially announced.
And I think another time Jimmy was doing a bit where he jokingly said his name was "Suicidal Steve", and then everone got awkwardly quiet for a second and he said something along the lines of "I didn't mean to say that name. It just slipped out."
I believe they said he wasn’t fired, but the position of executive producer was “eliminated”. Strangely enough, Travis or Sam was named executive producer some months later. It was a giant lie so they wouldn’t come off as bad guys because fans liked Steve. I guarantee they signed off on it. /u/theblueawning , comment?
Yes the position was eliminated but there's more to that. The EP prior to SXM was mainly to book guests. With Roland, his job became pointless. I'm sure he was making pretty decent cash, and all he was really doing was posting on Foundry and being an aloof character.
Steve was always a production guy and should have continued being a production guy. EP was never something he was cut out for.
He was fired after the whole Po incident. He and Opie were friends for a very long time. Op would stay at his apartment during the WNEW days. So, BFFs that had a falling out. Sound familiar?

Kind of like you and Guitar Hero only you’re still around to defend yourself.

Ok. Fair enough. Why didn't they find a spot there for him in production? Had he just run his course with O and A?

Derek had been there for a while as Steve moved into a Ben's spot. Ben leaving fucked up the whole vibe.
