Usually when people make visual "jokes" like that they'll wait until all the people in on the joke are looking at the joke maker so everyone share in the laugh.
I could actually see the guy saying something like that, but it would very clearly have been sarcasm. The message behind it would still be, "this guy is fucking terrible".
So I've never been able to get through this video because it's so cringey. So I'm watching this for the first time...
So Joe tried to say that the one guy doing the throat slash behind his back was him telling the other guitarist "hey, this Joe is alright, let's get him in the band, toot suite!". When in reality it's the guitarist saying "OK, make-a-wish day is over, cut this guy's amp and let's get on with the show."
Upon seeing this, is Joe is goddamn delusional that he portrays those hand motions as a positive thing?! Also that hug is so goddamn uncomfortable. That guy wanted nothing to do with that hug and Joe.
I think JoeH has developmental or at least mental issues that would prevent him from ever truly facing reality.
AntH most likely has early onset Korsakoff Syndrome and preparing to be Night Anchor Watchman on the U.S.S. Orbani, so he'll never willingly face reality.
